It was my 1-hour holdover (alone) before being quarantined for COVID at another location.

People that make it feel like it's better to sleep in the streets who don't offer proper help or resources not to mention respect. The bed bug issue just adds to so many things horribly wrong with the place.

Dedra Jackson whatever her name is. Has made staying here worst than sleeping outside. She is rude and doesn’t care for anyone. You think this being a shelter the people that work here are compassionate and helpful.nope wrong!! I feel More down when She’s here. She’s like a dark big cloud.I feel Like she’s a bully and always talks down to people. Half the residents here says the same but are to scared to speak up. She pockets the things she takes from us through security and she has intentionally kept me locked out.I ended Up sleeping outside that night after I spent All day at work. We all feel unsafe and uncomfortable with her around. She seems like she’s an opportunist that takes advantage of the old homeless people. She Single handedly is breaking down the people here. I have never met a grown woman with so much animosity and hatred for others. Everytime you see her she’s angry and bitter and rude. She’s lazy and a disappointment to this facility. I have So much more negative things to say about this lady but I want to keep it respectful and PG but I will definitely be reporting her, not just for but for all the elderly and disabled people she picks on in her. She is literally a BIG BULLY!!!!

I was told one time that this place was terrible and I know have learned otherwise these people here are truly concerned about what goes on and how to help other people except for one employee Big Red she likes to steal well it's really not stealing I don't guess in her eyes she watches you spend your money and then she knows that she's going to take it from you but actually pretty ingenious I guess when you get that big you need help staying that big it's got to be expensive I know she's costing me a bunch of money God bless her heart I guess she just confused they gave her a badge and she thinks it's a star we'll just have to be patient

Sure, you can. You may also give them directly to the people. The park or the street near by is host for many generous people. However you do it, please know your kindness is appreciated. Namaste!
911. You can call them from your county and let them know what's going on in her county and maybe they can get her some place safe. Do it ASAP
I was there for six weeks. After I was able to get all my documents from the US. ARMY. They set me up with a case worker with Catholic charities. If you have no criminal record and are self motivated. You can get into one of the various programs available. I was directed to find an apartment by Catholic charities who took care of the application fee the deposit was waived and they paid my rent for three months. The shelter doesnt directly take care of all of the details that is between yourself and the program case manager you are assigned too. God bless you and your family. Being destitute is heartbreaking for a single man, try to stay positive and pray always for direction !!
No not if he not register on East Lancaster
B prepared for long lines, they r rarely on time letting u in. 'Early bird gets the worm' is the motto to live by at this place if u want help. Watch ur possessions very closely cuz someone's always watching to catch u slippin! B patient.....the wheels of state and local assistance grind very slow. Good luck and God b with ur every step! U won't make it without him.....
On East Lancaster there is a place called Pace Setters, it's a day labor place just need work boots and an id, there are several cheap motels to stay at if you don't want to stay at the Salvation Army, but I suggest you do and save money to buy a cash car, also available on east Lancaster avenue. Your dog can not stay with you unless you have a harness that says service dog
Yes
5mins exactly. Very easy walk too.
They appect dogs if they are up to date with their shots, not aggressive and is a service dog or a support dog
No they are not separated Brandon Baxter does not know what he's talking about as long as you go in at the same time and have kids then you can stay with
Yes, they have familys...
Yes they can of course but not much individual attention but there is plenty of people to help
They tried but couldn't... They do one side at a time and people move their stiff from one side to the other... Defeats the purpose...
I have a felony and have talked with my PO about referrals. Your PO should have a list of places to help you.
Yes, they do have program for that age group
At True Worth right beside the shelter in the glass building. They will give you a temp card until you take the tb test then they will give you a permanent card
If the dog is for your health purposes than yes you can but outside you can have a dog with you
Call Salvation Army on east Lancaster and listen to it's prompts, you can donate to angel tree there
Not sure how the women's shelter handles things, whether you can get a bed or not. Either way you can come to True Worth Place tomorrow morning starting at 8:30 and speak to someone at the front desk. They will help you get the help you need.
Tru worth should let u they can help woth id ugm and salvation army will give sack lunches without IDs i believe ugm will let you stay one night without id but after that thwy will send you to tru worth because they can help you gget a case worker and id and all that
For men, it's 2pm Mon-Fri, & On wknds it's 9am. Same for the women. You might want to be there a bit early cause people start lining up very early.
Yes,unless you are a resident or in the program. The food is good
I have heard from different people that it once wad a out reach center of a church, and now it's a homeless shelter for veterans
I heard about that but I never knew anyone to actually go home with the money. Most people used Catholic charities to get a way home out of state and Western Union in state.
Yes you can if you are staying there ever or even if you stay close by. If you ever stay there you can also get a print out showing you stay there to use the address for your ID.
Call True Worth place they can give you a better idea
Intakes begin 1:30 pm and all you have to do is come by the buildings and ask for shelter.
Presbyterian night shelter is on lockdown until December 7th
Yes ma'am I know for sure the the books they will accept
Yes, they are open. Women are in one building. Men are in another building and Families with children are in another building, However, PNS is infested with bed bugs. The safest bet is either Union Gospel Mission or Salvation Army. I have been to them also and they are extremely clean and no bugs.
Thank You it would definitely help. God bless you
To a certain extent .but no its all u
They do have a way wo get your state ID......DL I'm not sure about. Yes they have lockers and shower for the public. They open at 8 am. They have a good program.....however before you can receive any services you must go in and get a scan card I D.
Leaving the bus station head south down Jones to Lancaster heading East. Pass MHMR on your right. Turn Right at the next road and follow it to TrueWorth. They can help you there. I know the city bus isnt always an option but it's a good 20-30 minute brisk walk
Kind of. Once you're in the shelter you have to talk to true worth about getting a case manager and the case manager will help you with housing
Union Gospel charges last I knew. PNS does not. Don't know much about their programs for individuals but women and childrens unit has chores and a point system you have to participate in to stay. They help you with housing and they do have jobs available. If you're looking for more info I'd talk to someone who works at True Worth.
It has rapid rehousing program. Lots of rules. Not allowed to leave after 4 pm
Yes, if they have any beds available As long as I have two forms of identification. How long u stay is determined at your intake assessment.
yes at trueworth center across the street from shelter
No but salvation army does.
It will all depend on the care he needs...
No they have to be able to care for themselves
I have only spent the night 1 time there and it was back in May, before he heat really hit hard. I would ask one of the supervisors on duty as to why such limited ice and as to why you can't have outside drinks in. I would think they would be able to assist you with your questions. Hope this helps. Have a good evening and I hope you get some ice soon!!!
Ask around about the Flag Building, it has a giant flag painted on it, it's on East Lancaster before you hit 35
He's right. The men are separated from women and children only from like 4 pm til 5 am. Other than that you guys can be together all day. Remember, this place isnt the Marriot. But you guys won't go hungry or be in dangerous weather. Use it as a stepping stone. Dont come here to make friends, come here to make progress.
I'm not really sure if you can. I know that you can do your community service at the animal shelter on Lancaster Ave.
Well I forgot that stay as long as you like until you get on your feet there's a lot of people just living there
They will take you the first night without an ID, however you can go to True Worth Place in the morning to get a scan card. And on Tuesday and Thursday True Worth Place has open case management at 8:30 so that they can help you with any critical documents you may need or any kinda resources or housing
Go to Salvation Army on East Lancaster, ask for Mrs. Porter
Go there between 9/4
A lot. It all depends on who comes down there. If people dont come down there ,then they just dont eat.
Stephen...I know a place in Alvarado
I don't know about the men's location but for the women's location I can speak on. Things are often stolen at the women's location. To give some background for those who haven't visited this place. To live there you either have to have a legitimate form of income (government check, pay stubs etc) and in this case you have to pay $100 for the bed and $30 for a meal ticket monthly. If you don't have an income then you have to work around the facility for so many hours per day. Well everyone has to leave the facility early by a certain time while those that are working for their beds stay behind. That's when most things come up missing. Also people are creeping around at night while you're sleeping especially if you get up to leave your bed at night to use the restroom. If you don't want to be bothered with paying or working you can just be an overnight guest.
Yes
They offer all kinds and yes you can stay there but go up there to get more info are call
I was advised by a case worker. Sleeping in your car is understandable, that said she advised parking in a well lite parking lot such as Wal-Mart. I wish you safety, a stable situation & serenity. M H P.
Proper I.D is needed thats all..
You have to get a scan card from True Worth tuen you can stsy as an overnight
Ms mary iam not sure about the lady's with a child..but i do no they have a New building. Just for that..u just need to do some check up's to see...hope this helps..☺
No unless you have a late night pass for that time. Also get in by 6:00 p.m.
U miss breakfast, but you can eat lunch, and dinner later, not sure about the shower hours
Yes, they have a program to provide temporary housing while you work and to help find permanent housing. Men's program enrolls on Monday, Wednesday, be and Friday at 10 am. You need to be waiting on the porch outside the doors at that time. Beds are subject to availability, though.
If you want to get in for the night you need to line up in front of the building at 1:30 to turn in your card for a bed. In the men's shelter, you can also try back at 6pm to see if any of the beds weren't taken. Not sure about women's shelter.
Try presbyterian night shelter or Union gospel mission where are you staying tonight?
Are u trying to get one? If so u can get one at mhmr if u have a case worker or u can get one at the shelter and trueworth but also require case workers otherwise ask around and u can find someone usually selling them at a discount price
If its your first time there state ID is fine. Anything with a picture and your name. If you plan to stay then get a scan card.
It depends on what your situation is and how many people are in your family and what kind of income you have
