The wolf sanctuary is a great place to work. I totally enjoy the experience, education, staff and especially the wolf dogs. Ashima, wayahoo and topaz. You gotta check this place out!

Current volunteer (2 years) here; this is a true, non-profit, registered charity SANCTUARY where wolf-dogs are kept for their life times. Our mission is “Rescue, Sanctuary and Education”; education on the joys and perils of wolf-dog ownership, and the rescue and sanctuary of captive born wolf-dogs. We are not open to the public but always need volunteers and also offer internships to university students. Current, long standing staff provide amazing support to volunteers/interns and I can not recommend the experience highly enough.

Love what they do and I will continue to support them.

Former volunteer here. Everyone I’ve known, both staff and volunteers alike, quit the job seeing where this place was headed- toward animal exploitation and photo ops just like Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. The owner, Shelley, is a narcissist who doesn’t appreciate her volunteers even remotely. The wolves don’t even like her. Also, most of these “wolves” are low-content Wolf-dogs who could easily be rehomed and a handful are even simply dogs but the staff here are too ignorant to know better. They actually sue a white German Shepard for “educational” (aka money making) meet and greets and tell people he is a wolfdog. So ignorant and dangerous. Goes against everything they claim to stand for. Do not support. Already corrupt before they’ve started.

Pretty sure they're illegal to have as pets in CO. Call the wolf rescue and ask them.
Hey Hannah, so minimum age required to volunteer at the sanctuary is 18.
Hello Wolf Lover, This is a very common misconception all of the sanctuary animals are genetically wild or wild/domestic hybrids. Domestication is a process of deliberate selection of animals that have decreased flight distance and more familiarity towards humans "more friendly". Domestication can take numerous generations of deliberate breeding, which could take decades to centuries to achieve a truly domestic animal. A wild animal will be a wild animal for it's entire life and never be domestic. Wild animals can be tamed, which is an extensive process of training. Taming wild animals can be incredibly difficult and should only be attempted by experts. Feel free to contact staff with any questions.

W.O.L.F. very rarely hires and when they do, they usually prefer to hire volunteers with seniority. I would suggest to start with volunteering and see if it's something you would enjoy-- it is definitely not for everyone! Daily chores don't exclusively include animal husbandry, and many days, it involves no direct work with the animals at all.
W.O.L.F. is not a breeding facility and they do not adopt out animals. They rescue animals from various situations and give them life long sanctuary.
W.O.L.F. is not a breeding facility and does not sell or adopt out animals. The sanctuary discourages ownership of wolves and wolf dogs due to the immense challenge of keeping them as pets.
W.O.L.F. is currently not open to the public. When they move to their new facility they will be able to accommodate visits. Volunteers are able to interact with some of the animals. If you are interested in volunteering the directions and requirements are on the website under the get involved tab.
The sanctuary is currently not open to the public at this time. When we move to our new site next year we will be able to accommodate visits. Scheduling options will be listed on the main website when the new facility becomes operational. Thank you for your interest!
Hello Mickeys, yes the volunteers are able to go into some of the enclosures with animals with appropriate staff and/or senior volunteer supervision.
Hello Glenn, Yes, volunteers are allowed to interact with the animals, but it is only if the animal wants to meet the people in the enclosure.
