Wanted to write a review about the experience we had at VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital with our bird Andy. Having worked in the veterinary field for many years, and been to countless vets with all of our family pets and not always having the best experience. Which is understanding in this field, the emotional drain with so many sick pets is heart wrenching, and how busy it can get and the stress everyone working at not only a vet goes through, but an emergency hospital and how a lot of clients are not understanding of what the staff goes through while their pet is in distress. I can say without a doubt in my mind that this hospital was the BEST emergency hospital in our area and has the most kind, caring, compassionate and genuinely amazing people working there. From the moment arriving there, to in the end losing our sweet Andy and him passing away. The compassion and kindness that ALL of the staff we interacted with (Doctors, Techs, Receptionists) showed us was beyond what I ever expected. They were so attentive to Andy in his emergent state upon arrival, for the days he stayed hospitalized there, attentive to us and you could truly see that they cared for him, and were so loving to him as if he was their own. They called with updates, let us come for multiple visits and explained everything in detail about his condition and progress. Even with so many things happening in the waiting room, behind the doors where Andy was in oxygen and so many other pets were in need and being cared for. The love they showed him outside of everything they were doing medically to save him and you could see was making him feel better during such a tragic and horrible time, truly put my heart at ease knowing he was with such kind and compassionate people. I will forever be grateful for the kindness and love that they showed him, and in the past I have regretted feeling as if I did not do everything I could for pets that have passed or have felt guilty about leaving my pet with strangers wondering if that made my pets more stressed. This was not the case with this hospital, the feeling of how much they cared I never worried that he was not being loved. I wish I remembered more names of all the staff that was so sweet to us and Andy. But of course being emotional I donβt remember all the names of everyone we interacted with but Dr Berg especially and Dr Mason and Primrose (Tech) were some of the amazing staff we had the pleasure of meeting there. Thank you again for everything you all did for Andy and I will be forever grateful for your compassion and what you do to help animals, you are truly appreciated.

I have brought two of my French Bulldogs here in Emergency situations and had the most excellent care. I would have given five stars but it was a very long wait and I hope they will improve this part of their service to earn five stars, as the staff deserves five. Their doctors are the best and follow-up is excellent. Their price range is the best around for emergency services and I have tried others. Pet Lovers must choose VCA.

We took our 18 yr old calico girl to the VCA ER cuz she wasn't doing well at her age. Our experience was the best it could of been. Not only were they sweet and understanding, but took care of us right away & were comforting us when our girl passed away just mins after arriving. They took the best care of our girl to be safe for us to put her next to our other cat' grave in the ground with her name on the box. They offered ink paw prints of hers to give us which I'll be getting a tattoo of with a heart of flowers around it. Also a sweet pome was with the prints. I put them in a frame with a few extra things to make it feel complete. She was my baby & best friend. Everything they did was caring and professional. We are so grateful to of had a wonderful experience on such a horrible day. She passed a few days before Xmas. I'm forever grateful how they helped us and her during this hard time. Thank you so much to everyone who was there that day. π

Please, if you feel your pet really needs help quickly donβt worry about whether youβre overreacting or if there will be a long wait and go. They will do a quick assessment at the door and help your pet and you from there. I called ahead of driving over because I was so worried there would be a long wait or theyβd turn us away, but they admitted my dog immediately and had me speaking with the veterinarian within 20 min. All of the vet techs and Dr. Lopes were so, so kind, it made me wish we had taken him here for all of his checkups. I had to say goodbye to my dog, but they did everything they could so quickly and were so kind and patient with my dog and with me.

No, they area hospital that doesnt take healthy, surrendered animals.
Can try different strategies from pup to full grown dog. Start in baby steps as it will not happen over night with any dog...u must b patient!! One way is to take a plastic water bottle to start and put kibbles in it and roll it in the floor closer and closer to the dog as a game and reward the dog each time for a while. Then add a larger sound like maybe a soda pop can with small pebble inside of it and just shake it lightly. Reward the dog each time.If the dog runs & hides go get it and comfort it, next ..brush the pet with an empty can 1st until the pet trust the can. Then introduce the soda pop can with a small rock/pebble in it again. This could take a week, weeks, months. I do mot know your dogs history, I am not an expert..have had many dogs. a couple fearful of thunder & lightning and found this to be helpful. Also sometimes playing loud soothing music to a dog on these stormy nights can comfort and lull them. IF YOU TRULY FEEL ITS ANXIETY GET THE DOG TO A VET ASAP ?Rx
You should call the hospital. I had them put my dog down. Over 1000.00
Ask the vet
The Angel Animal Hospital in Roxbury takes donations for all animals
I just had one of my dogs put down there the other day. My experience was really good considering the circumstances. I took my 14 year old dog in for an emergency visit. We just made it clear we didn't have alot of money and couldn't afford Xrays and so forth. They were very good. The emergency visit was $130. By the time we left it was under $300.
