SVDP Pt. Charlotte is a treasure trove of great, affordable ‘finds.’ Their standards are quite high and the shop is tidy, very well organized and items are displayed beautifully. The prices are very good and they have frequent sales due to the large volume of donations they receive. As there is a quick turnover of items, if I see something I like, I get it right away. What I love the most is that the shop’s proceeds go directly to their SVDP food pantry, right across the street, where food is given to hungry families each week. There are many SVDP’s but I prefer this one. It’s led by Clara and Richard Peters, who lead true lives of service to others.

I visited the store today and was followed around by a little old lady volunteer. Evidently, my boyfriend made the heinous mistake of sitting on a couch. The 'no lounging' sign was beneath a pillow. He apologized, got up, and fixed the pillows. She proceeded to stand about 15 feet from us and watch us browse. Now, this place is small- I'm talking the living room and dining room in your first apartment x2 small. To be followed in a small area like that is almost comical. Whenever I picked up an item, I was closed it on. Once I turned around in the clothing rack and she was 3 feet from me. I just don't get it. The place is all granny clothes and gaudy knick-knacks. I was in a tank top and fitted capris. How could I steal? I was getting irritated, so I left. I haven't been followed in a store since I was a teenager in goth clothing at Walmart. This is crazy!

This place closes at four but they will practically push you out the door at ten til. We went in around 3:30 and she did not stop going on and on telling us she closes at 4. We even said don’t worry we will be gone for sure by 4. She wouldn’t even let us try anything on. Turns off the lights and continues to berate us about closing soon. We leave, get in the car, and it’s only 3:51! That lady is crazy, and we will not be back. Such a weird experience. I gave it 2 stars because I did think they had some decent stuff and the other staff member there didn’t seem nearly as obsessed with the closing time.

I was there today as a donor at about 11 AM and will never return. I could not believe how rude the workers there were to both me as a donor and others as buyers. There are other places that do the same job in a much better way.

We are not a consignment store. We take donations and resale them. Our profits fund our food pantry down the street. We are all volunteers at the store and pantry.
