I transferred from Tampa to Pinellas and I have been calling and leaving emails to find out if my information was received. I got one response back stating they will look into it. That was a week ago. I have no family or friends around and I’m exhausting all funds living in a hotel with my two children. This happened to me once before. I always tell Section 8 three months ahead about wanting to transfer or move and they wait until the last month of your lease to transfer you and then it leaves people stuck in gaps of having no place to live, while they process. All information is sent in one email, I don’t understand why it takes so long to over look it and call out for an appointment for someone to receive the same voucher in the same state under a different location. I was told they have up to 14 days it’s been 20. Its bad enough having low income and needing Section 8 and then having to complain or grovel.

I have left several messages asking some questions. I never received a return call nor even a message with the questions I asked. I do not know how you help people. Cause, if this is how you work no wonder people get mad.

Pinellas County Housing Authority has been AWOL during the past two years of the COVID 19; as of this date their offices remain closed to the public, they do not return phone calls OR written correspondence. I have driven from St. Petersburg to their headquarters in Largo twice to no avail; the administration and staff have barricaded themselves from doing their jobs. Poor lesdership, unprofessionalism and a lack of accountability are their attributes during a historical housing crisis. The citizens of Pinellas County deserve better.

Well I'm a family and I just got on their waiting list. If I were you I would go to the office and ask for help. That what I did.
Go to the housing authority and they will give you the paperwork and help you need
Talk letter to Clerk of Courts with proof paid all rents currently paid. I suggest you apply for senior housing and tell them landlord is wanting you out and prove you have paid all rents. Take copies of receipts put origionals up except for clerk of courts and have her copy and stamp origional copy cost$5. So offical record. Then go to Elder Affairs Services, they can help guide you and advocate if landlord exploiting you as elderly.
Are you porting vouchers into pinelas county
Do you wanna rent your own private bed and bath? Well, so do I, but I am one person, a semi-retired senior, a widower, and I do not receive enough Social Security Money to afford the skyrocketing rental rates in a housing crisis. I will have to consider pooling my resources with another, or a couple, to rent a Mobile Home in a retirement community in Pinellas County. However, I am open to any suggestions. The thought of having to rent an apartment is not agreeable to me. I need a yard, and some elbow room. THIS IS NOT A SCAM. I am currently residing in Seven Springs RV Travel Park in New Port Richey. I have been a resident of South Florida since 1988. I recently relocated to the Gulf Coast in April of this year with my brother, because he found a new job here. We made plans to buy our own home in Pinellas County, however, he got cold feet, after 4 weeks, and decided to quit his job, and run back to his hometown, leaving me in a hopeless position. Now I face an uncertain future. Allen
Call them and see what they say about Emergency Housing, there's a waiting list but you can call them and also if u call 211 Tampa Bay Community they might be able to help you out.Goood luck with this matter.
Did either of you find help? I know this was a year ago. I'm on disability on just left a bad relationship and I'm facing homelessness bc of my decision but I could not live another minute in that life...
I would take pics and I would write a letter of compliant to your landlord telling them they must REMOVE the mold and repair the place (sometimes they just come in and paint over it and this does NOT fix it and it will only come back soon). In the letter give them a reasonable deadline 2-3 weeks maybe? And tell them that if they don’t fix it by the deadline let the know you will be putting the rent in an account (I think maybe called an escrow account?) with the “Clerk of Court’s” and in the meantime contact your county clerk of court or go to their office and find out how you put the rent into the account. Many people think that because they have a deficiency in their place they can just withhold rent until it is fixed. There is probably no faster way to get evicted and put on the street! Do NOT do that! You are still under obligation to pay but they are not in a position to receive the money. So the clerk of court is sorta like the “middle-man” who holds it. Go to avvo website.
If anyone knows of open lists for low income individuals, I'm trying to help a woman who is homeless, so please, let me know of open lists. She's on SSI and extremely low income. The Housing Authority building is closed.
No, Best thing to do is contact your worker and let him or her know what the landlord is doing and ask for advice on what to do about the situation
This is where a person goes to get help with living. Not a food pantry
Yes
A couple months ago I sent in a letter but the door was locked about part-time job then I went the other day put another letter in I haven't got no response
You have to call their office and talk to one of their coordinators. The lady that answer the phone(operator) is really nice and am sure you will get the answer you are looking for.
Good morning Ms. Pettit. PCHA staff will look into your concern and will contact you.
You would have to call 2-1-1 because not sure if the waiting list is open here. Best to go on the website and apply and then call.
Go online to the Pinellas County Housing Authority and you'll see the link to sign up
I'm on St Pete housing authority to and I didn't have to wait that long but I do have to tell you the cat in the apartment is not as easy as it seems
You can call for follow up
Hi Rex, I can look into this and get back to you. Do they own the home or do they rent?
You have to wait until they open the window for applications... unless your in a special situation in need of emergency assistence.
No
If I am correct if she went to the battered shelter explain things they will help her and the family. It is sad that there are so many homeless people in Florida.
Usually have to have voucher 1 year before transferring to another state.
That's a question to ask Pinellas County Housing Authority.
Yes there is, look up website gosection8.com not sure about pet friendly but there's really nice brand new apartments age-restricted Pinellas County Largo Ulmerton and Clearwater Largo Road.
They have so many parking spaces, I doubt it would be a problem but you should call their office and ask you'd get a quicker response.
Depends on family size
No, the waiting list to apply is closed and has been closed for 7 years.
Unless its changed most states want you to have your voucher at least 1 year before transferring to another state. I would Vann Housing Authority in county you plan to move.
2 persons per bedroom is legal limit
I don't know...but it doesn't hurt not to ask ...Many blessings...give them a call..
