The staff at VCA Gateway was absolutely lovely to me & my dog Wendell. I was recommended to them by a friend who brings her pets there as well. From Phil who took my initial phone call, the kind folks at the front desk, to Sam E. who explained everything step by step and was so gentle with my baby boy, and even to Dr. Ruiz who treated him--everyone was so sweet and compassionate and turned what could have been a stressful day for both me and Wendell into a pleasant one. You've turned a first time patron into someone who will return and who trusts that her fur-babies will receive the best quality care possible. I cannot thank you all enough.

I brought my cat to this location for the first time and was appalled at the entire experience. I called ahead and was told to arrive at 1:30pm to ensure that I could get a walk-in appointment before 2pm. I arrived at 1:20pm to be safe, and got the last walk-in appointment available. For the first hour we had to stand in wait outside in the heat with our pets before even being made aware of whether or not we could be seen. Then, once those of us who got appointments were permitted to wait inside, I waited for 3 and a half hours before being seen. My cat became extremely irritable since she had had to sit in her carrier for so long. When we were finally seen, the vet, Doctor Ta, was rude and unsympathetic to my frustrations, saying I should have seen the “large banner” indicating that there may be a 4 hour wait (a banner that was outside, above their parking lot, which was profoundly unhelpful for someone like me who did not enter their offices near or though their parking lot in the back. Nothing at the front of the building, its entrance or its waiting room indicated this information. And upon leaving, I walked over to discover that the potential wait time was in fact on a banner, along the bottom, in a much smaller script that was barely visible from the parking lot entrance). They took my cat and she was so irritated that she could not be properly examined. She’s a very gentle and well-tempered cat every time I’ve been to any other vet, where wait times were reasonable. They complained that she had “lunged at all of them” which, was frankly an outcome of their own making, and told me she would need to be sedated if she ever came back. Not only did the doctor then outline a treatment plan that included medications for an ailment which was not an accurate part of my cat’s diagnosis (reinforcing their inadequate examination) he walked out on me when I said again that I was put off by their handling of not only my pet but also my time. It was juvenile, and I was disturbed at the entire experience and the complete disdain shown by the doctor and his support staff. Would not recommend and since the treatment itself wasn’t even comprehensive or communicative and kind, I can’t begin to comprehend why the wait for such a place is even necessary or deserved.

I’ve been a client at Gateway for years. From way back when it was an itty bitty little building! The receptionists, vet techs and vets all love their jobs and it truly shows. Just recently received some above-average service, particularly from Nicole and Dr McLean. They are lovely people and made me and my cat feel like we were part of the family. Please, if you’re reading this— the wait times can be long but know that it’s because they are treating every animal and client with dignity and care and if it went any faster, that means something would have to be sacrificed. Get there early!!

If any place charges $15 for teeth cleaning, please do not take your dog there. This place charged me about $130 for the anesthesia and about $100 for the cleaning itself for a Maltese. That is very fair actually. If they charged you $400-$500 there may have been additional services and also if you have a bigger dog.
I paid approx. $280 when I put my 80lb dog down a week ago. That included the exam fee, Euthanasia and a paw print. They only allow 1 person in the room.
They are closed between 10:30 am and 2 pm. Perhaps that is when you called.
You should call them, I don't work there, I'm a client
Please call the front desk information.! 4 info...
No, but call for to give you the best advice where is possible.!

Hi Shannon, Thank you for writing to us. The patient would need to see the doctor to get an appropriate price estimate. The initial exam is $45.00 and we can provide you with an estimate before we proceed with treatment to ensure you approve and it is affordable for you. You do not need to make an appointment. We have a walk in service Monday-Friday from 8am to 11am in the morning, and 2pm to 5pm in the afternoon. Saturdays we are open from 8am to 11am. Hope to see you soon. Thank you, Hospital Manager

They have a free valet or street parking. I park on the street. And I suggest a.m. appointments.
