Really cool place for AVGeeks. Glad I finally got to see it up close and personal.

Great airport for training. Did my private pilot certificate here with Santa Monica Flyers and really appreciated the convenient location, busy airspace (really makes you a better pilot) and central location in SoCal. Really hope the city doesn’t shut it down at the end of 2028 and realizes the value this airport provides to the community. When eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft become more mainstream, this airport will be a great hub for travelers of all kinds. And the noise will only continue to go down as more electric aircraft become available for training. KSMO <3

Great place to come and watch the planes take off if you can find the elevator to get up to the third floor. I have included pictures of the elevator so you know what and where to find it

Sure, contact the airport administrator or FAA
13 miles; about 26 minutes in no traffic... However, I must point out that you asked this question ON the Google Maps platform... Which is literally capable of giving you that answer directly itself easier & quicker than you typing this question (and me this response). 🤦♂️ Every day it is becoming more apparent that the movie Idiocracy by Mike Judge was a documentary.
Considering that THIS IS the Santa Monica Airport, one would think it would be inherently obvious that the distance TO the Santa Monica Airport would be precisely ZERO miles and would take exactly ZERO minutes to travel there from here... Which IS in fact there. You asked this question ON the Google Maps platform... Which is literally capable of giving you that answer directly itself easier & quicker than you typing this question. 🤦♂️ Every day it is becoming more apparent that the movie Idiocracy by Mike Judge was a documentary.
Hello Morgen - The airport code for Santa Monica is - SMO
Santa Monica is not such a large airport, the runway is only a thousand meters, there are no flights like that
Yes
It really depends on a lot of factors. I would recommend calling or looking online
"This low?" You understand that this is an airport, where planes take off and land, right? And that it has been there since WWII, and was there when you moved in, right? And that it's now LESS busy than it was when you moved in, right? Another fun fact: In a century, not one plane crash from SMO has killed any neighborhood resident. IN A CENTURY. So to answer your question: It is VERY safe.
Depends on your aircraft. Santa Monica has a runway length of 3500ft and most biz jets will need to stop in Europe for fuel so you are looking at 15 hours. If you are jo public get down to LAX and use Lufthansa or Alitalia.
