Great camping ground for us first timers. We had such fun and the area was clean. We stayed by Pinyon and the area we got was very clean. Provided it was dusty but still great. Mt Laguna is very windy so you better make sure your tent is durable and assembled properly. Restroom are quite available on almost every corner. Highly recommended!

Site #54. Great campground with clean restrooms. Big sites with lots of trees and good shade. Easy access to PCT, short drive to Laguna Meadows trails. Well stocked store on the main road at the campground entrance. What more do you need.

Great camping in Mt. Laguna. I try to get out here a couple of times a year. Most toilets are vault, but they do have a central restroom with flush toilets and showers. Campgrounds are up against a section of The Pacific Crest Trail.

This taxpayer funded campground has now permanently rented out several of the nicest sites, located in the Cherry loop, to a private glamping company. Rates for these sites are thus much higher than the advertised rate on the National Forest website and not accessible as walk-up sites, even though they are listed as such on the same website.

Questions & Answers

Which site numbers can be booked in advance, and which ones are first come first serve?

Half of the sites are reserved, half are first come first served (FF). If looking at the campground map, Lilac, Pinyon, Yucca, and Amphitheater are reservable. If spots on those loops have not been booked within 4 days (I believe) they become FF sites. So it is possible you can camp in one of those spots last minute, if they have not been reserved.

Yes, all first come first serve sites are open. (Cherry, mahogany, and redberry)

Can we camp there in October?

Yes you can, it'll be a bit chillier than summer, and there's always an outside chance of snow (though rare to be sure). Beautiful campground in Autumn, hope you're able to make you outing. 🤠
