We took the drive out to check this park out but few cons to mention are: 1-Not completely developed 2-No Benches or areas to Sit and have a Picnic so bring your own. 3-Horse Poop Everywhere 4-No designated parking area so if it rains you might get stuck in the mud. Pros: -It's very peaceful and not many go all the way out here..so you have the park to yourself. -Nice Landscape to enjoy to day -Easy access to pier and launching a kayak if needed. We didn't end up catching any fish during our visit ...but its pretty early in the season.

I happened upon Clear Lake years ago while out drivin back roads and it's been a favorite escape for 27 years! It's never crowded, ya know, so it's a pretty chill place to relax for a bit - especially if you like to explore nature, catch fish & enjoy watchin the sunset. I've just recently started sharin this "fishin hole" with my 3 yr old grandson & he caught his First Fish last month, y'all! *see picsπ* My only frustration (LBJ) is the lack of maintenance to the lake itself. The water near the bank becomes completely overgrown with algae/moss/pond scum; which, in turn makes fishin one heck of an expensive nightmare AND turns survivin into a game of Russian roulette for the fish. It'd be great to see Clear Lake become a lake cleared of this stringy nuisance. Is it possible, US Forest Service, to maybe stock it with some goldfish or koi? See if that might help some? Just my thoughts.

Clear lake is a little disappointing, I've witnessed a lot of people catch and keep fish that are not of legal length! So now when you fish it you don't catch much of anything. It would be nice to see a Forest Service Ranger or Game Warden actually enforce the rules and regulations set forth by TPW. In area 31 I've personally witnessed a resident that his property backs up to the Grasslands riding a 4 wheeler on the Grasslands. Also this same resident parks his personal trailers and equipment on the Grasslands as well. It would be nice to see a larger FS or Game Warden presence on the Grasslands. Area 71 has a big pond or small lake on it and duck hunters drive all the way to the lake when they are supposed to stop at the turn around by the fence. Again FS and Game Wardens writing stiff tickets for this would stop the abuse of such a great resource for outdoorsmen who actually obey the rules and regulations!!! Not many places in the state of Texas where you can be outdoors to camp and fish for free. If it gets used and abused this may or may not be around any longer.

Yes, this lake has bass, bream, crappie, and catfish. It is a good lake to fish when the weeds are down laike they are now. The lake can get full of mini foil which does back when there is heavy rain fall that we had in September and October. I have caught bass up to three pounds. Tey spinnerbaits, plastic worms that are weightless and seedless rugged, also try frogs when the weeds come back. Also, use a kiack, boat, or you can wade.
