Hi Ana- First you need to get a Zone Clearance and a site plan approved by the Planning department (where you can place the pool), bring 3-sets of plans and 2-sets engineering to Building & Safety for a checklist of other department clearances which may be required (depending of your proposed type of project).
Hi Martin, Yes, any pools more than 5,000 gallons and 18” deep requires a permit.
Hi Patricia- Yes, anytime you erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert, demolish, etc. will require a building permit from Building & Safety. I’d recommend going to the Planning Department- to see if you are allowed to enclose the patio first, then you visit us (Building & Safety) to verify the proposed project meets the California building code for issuance.
