Great location to watch the Sunset. You may catch an air boat coming in if you get lucky. We saw two gators today. One came very close. Nice fishing ramp. Nice boat ramp as well. The fishing ramp is wheelchair accessible. Plenty of parking. There's only a port a potty, no real bathroom, so plan accordingly. Plenty of nice trails to walk and be adventurous. You can definitely get your steps in at this location and enjoy nature as well. Thank you very much for checking in. Have a blessed day.

This place has multiple paths that you can walk or ride on a bike. There is a variety of wildlife. If you are lucky you will be able to see alligators. This place closes late and it is a good place to bring a telescope at night to see the stars.

I haven't been here in about two years but am so happy that we went here today! The improvements that they made, make this special place look even better than before! They cut away a lot of the dead trees along the outer pathway; making it more spacious and easier to spot wildlife. It made sense to purchase the yearly pass. Overall, this is a hidden gem and the staff is both friendly and helpful.

So many trails and activities - fishing, bird watching, bike riding, walking, photography. You'll definitely spot a few alligators too! Be sure to check out the cypress swamp board walk behind the visitors center too!

"Visitors might catch a glimpse of endangered and threatened species such as the wood stork and snail kite while looking for migratory songbirds, secretive marsh birds, shorebirds, and wading birds that visit throughout the year. Year-round residents include pileated woodpeckers, alligators, herons, egrets, and bobcats." *Although they list bobcats , I wouldn't count on seeing one. Butterflies, birds, fish, alligators ...a deer if you're lucky. At least 2 raccons per trash can guaranteed.* "Visitors enjoy viewing wildlife around the refuge’s wetlands and cypress swamp by walking along the Cypress Swamp Boardwalk, Marsh Trail, Butterfly Garden, throughout the A, B, and C Impoundments, and along the L-40 and L-39 perimeter levees." Water-based observation: along the 5.5-mile Canoe Trail, within the 58-mile perimeter canal, and in 30,000 acres at southern end of the Refuge Interior.
Yes! Just ask the park Ranger
It is in the auditorium which is open upon request
Normally $5 per car . The visitor center is temporarily closed.
Is there a right answer to that question? Lots of gators... Night kayaking...
That so called “Troll” pays for your enjoyment and resources to keep up the appearance. If you want free go to your free areas and see what you get for your money 💰 you can get an annual pass for much less. Don’t be such a such a a cheap .... fill in your on words!!
Call the main phone number on the website to check or when you arrive with your fishing equipment, please check with one of the visitors centers where they have maps and advice.
Just open on certain days...not sure which days.
Absolutely you can for the boardwalk but getting to the kayak rentals is a little bit of a walk
It's safe but don't get on top of them to get a picture. They are more afraid of you than you are of them.
Yes, the visitor center is open including bathrooms and trash removal but many services such as the tram rides are not running. Canoe rentals are still available at the dock.
It is open but nobody there to collect fees. Rental dock is open.
Yes, one way in and one way out by vehicles.
There is a visitor center that can help with information. I enjoy it out there in winter. Lots of birds and gators.
There are people fishing off the decks near the canoe rental, as well.
Next to the parking lot of marsh trail there are about 3 picnic tables; can have light lunch/snack there. Not like a park w family gatherings and maybe even bar b que. As one comment, it is a wild place so meals are discouraged.
I think on the weekend the fee is $5 to enter refuge. Once you're in you can enjoy the exhibit, trails, and the best part is to rent a kayak or canoe starting from around $30 for 3hrs.
Watch your step. Lots of snakes and some times a gator on the trail. So keep a close eye on the kids.
Sorry I don't know.
I have used both.
No passes are needed 5 dollar entrance fee per vehicle
