I think on the weekend the fee is $5 to enter refuge. Once you're in you can enjoy the exhibit, trails, and the best part is to rent a kayak or canoe starting from around $30 for 3hrs.
The fees are generally on the honor system but it helps run the refuge if you pay them. Just general maintenance and what not...the govt funds only go so far.
It helps pay for the maintenance of the reserve. There is a lot of work that goes into it like prescribed burns to keep it healthy and remove invasive species. I believe they still do annual passes which are only a little more than the daily passes
