We enjoyed the ride in the bubble top car. The souvenir tickets are cool. The windows on the car could have benefited from a good cleaning. The seats flip around so you can face forward both ways of the out and back trip. And the ticket guy was a spitting image of my wife's uncle :)

The Jim Thorpe train ride was a must for us this year when we found out it was dog friendly. It is hard to find new things to do with our dog in the cold. This was definitely worth it. From purchasing tickets our pup got her very only ticket and we were in our on train car. Our conductor was WONDERFUL Brian went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time for the entire 70 minutes. I highly recommend.

I cant give more than 2 stars, we visited on fall weekend on Saturday and it was insanely crowded. I was searching for car parking at least for 1.5hr and traffic was so insane that car going towards jim thorpe. Apart from that parking generally cost you between $15-20 in the town including railway parking which is maintained by municipal corporation. Whole experience was messed up by parking space issue in this town. Finally I had to park 1.5 mile from train station and walk all the way. Now about getting ticket on October, you cant get online and you have to buy from counter and worst part, you may need to stand in line for 2-3hrs to get one. We reached near station around 11.45am thinking we will get 12pm train tickets and boy I was so wrong first was looking for parking while my wife was in line for 2hrs to get ticket and still she couldn't get till 3pm some gentleman standing next to her offered to get tickets for my family because his wife got chance to buy tickets. We thought we wont get tickets at all and go back home without train ride. Tickets cost between $17-20 per adults and $9-12 per child. About train ride, in October they short the ride time and distance from 1hr 45min to just 45min. Which is not that what we expected and my 6year old son was disappointed thst it was short ride. He did enjoyed and we did too but all the hassle we gone through wasnt worth at all. If you manage to avoid all the above hassle I would say its good place to visit. I would suggest visit Lehigh Gorge. The road to visit Lehigh Gorge exactly goes by train tracks so you can visit same places and view exactly same views from your car and park in D &L parking for free and visit near by trails and river.

Like fall foliage? Check out the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway in historic Jim Thorpe, PA, in the Pocono Mountains. About 90-min. from Philly, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway offers a quick (45-min roundtrip) trip back in time, when rail travel ruled. We opted for the open-air car ($20/adult) which allows you to feel the brisk fall air, as the vintage train gently winds along the scenic Lehigh River gorge. Although the colors were not nearly at 'peak' as the state foliage maps predicted, it was still very nice (Oct. 9th). The website says the train ride is narrated, but it was so loud and crowded (sold out during Fall Foliage Festival!), we couldn't hear it the whole time. So, if your planning to ride during the Fall Foliage Festival weekends, just know it'll be on the loud & crowded side, not necessarily "relaxing." The trip IS fun, and once more leaves start changing, I'm sure it must look spectacular!

Price for adults
Yes been here for years its perfect for children.
We paid $14 a ticket for a regular rail car they have open cars for $19 a head
I don't think they let any dogs the exception of service dogs on the trains.
They have a website but it's just as easy to purchase upon arrival. Just Google Lehigh Gorge scenic railway for online tickets.
