It's disheartening and beyond frustrating when judges act as though your case, aka your life is a waste of their time. Some don't take the time or genuine interest in reading anything into your case before trials. They have judges so old they're grumpy, rude and impatient. They are no longer good judges. Some don't even look at and will sign anything a crooked lawyer slides in front of them, even if not legal. I know this personally and you pay the price and have to fix their mistakes on your dollar. Some judges are still there even though they have been smidges away from being voted off year after year for being a poor judge. You're helping REAL people with REAL lives. That is your job! If you don't want to find what it takes inside to be a good judge, then do the community a favor and step down. Our justice system is broken.

Absolutely pathetic!!! Everywhere else I’ve been and had legal issues, a means of being present for a hearing or anything was available via video calls on zoom. Why the Fûçk hasn’t those śtûpîd fûçkś in NE, made that an option for those who ARE NOT ABLE TO BE THERE IN PERSON!!! Another slap in the face to the Justice System of NE and the USA

Douglas County Courthouse dramatically adds to the historical beauty of Omaha! A must see when visiting Omaha or whenever you can go there. The ceiling artworks have been excellently restored. Plus dozens of paintings, pictures and plaques adorn the walls up and down the halls! Then there are the numerous statues and monuments outside as well!

Telephone operators are totally incompetent! They whisper, don't enunciate. Court issues are important. Their employees promote errors! It took 4 phone calls, and spoke with 4 different departments, to accomplish my simple task!

Call the right number! There are employees answering the phone throughout the day. In county court, it's best to call between 8-9am, 10:30am-1:30pm, and 2:30-4:00pm. Court sessions are typically held from 9-10:30am (9-noon on Thursdays) and 1:30-2:30pm. The people answering the phones are also court runners, so there is less phone availability during times when court is in session.
They don't. Open court is not a thing. If you need something brought into court, you can visit window 11 at the criminal traffic division and ask for assistance.
call Child support office in Lincoln Ne they will provide u with copys
Thanks Bill! You are an expert at what goes where.
For anyone still wanting an answer to this: no. The 24/7 program is a condition of your bond. If your bond is $2500 and 24/7, that's like having a $10,000 bond and no 24/7. 24/7 is a special deal and failing to follow the instructions will result in you going back to jail for a new bond hearing. Do not miss your 24/7 appointments.
No. There are dmv locations that do testing. Not sure which ones off the top of my head but not at the court house.
Civic center h floor

Typically yes. Protection orders usually have a distance/ vicinity limit. It should say on your order.
A family lawyer
On the third floor of the courthouse there are double doors marked as, "probate". Beyond those doors there is a window for adoptions. They should be able to best direct you on how to obtain whatever documents you are seeking.
Enter the courthouse through the front entrance and approach the Criminal Traffic windows, directly to the left of the elevators. Go to window 10 or 11, ring the doorbell, and ask about getting copies of your records (or any other questions you have). It'll cost you a small amount of money for copies and you'll have to wait a few days.
3, 4, and 5. The first number of the courtroom is the floor, so 413 is 4th floor, 501 is 5th floor, etc. If you don't know which courtroom, then visit the Clerk of the District Court on the 3rd floor.
You may have been able to 8 months ago, when you asked this question, but not anymore. For anyone else wondering, you have 10 days from the day you receive your citation to get your registration current and then visit the City Prosecutor's office on the second floor (inside the main entrance, on the left, right before the Criminal Traffic division windows). If you take longer than 10 days, they likely won't help you and you'll have to go to your court dates.
Yes, you can. Any district or county court judge can marry you. For county court judges, contact the criminal traffic division and tell them what you're looking to do. They'll transfer you to a judicial secretary who will give you the details and help you arrange the ceremony. There is a fee attached.
Eviction court (known as the Civil Call) is held every day except for Thursdays at 9am in courtroom #20. The pandemic and moratorium on evictions did not stop this. Yes, eviction court was held on 7-7-2020.
The courthouse generally does not close for anything other than holidays or major emergencies. It wasn't closed for the pandemic and it hasn't closed for protests. Don't ever expect it to be closed.
Contact clerk of district court
If you have a warrant issues for your charge of disorderly conduct, you need to come to the court house to the information window and request to be scheduled into court for a cancel warrant. My suggestion is to just go to the courthouse and have someone at one of the windows to look up your case and see what's going on with it. They will tell you if it's in warrant and then get you scheduled in to take care of it.
Yes. If you go to Neb.gov and select Courts, you can follow the instructions and see the case online. I believe there is a $15 charge.
The parking garage may have handicap parking. The street parking does not.
You can call and ask them to send it in an email as well.
The courthouse is closed on labor day if that's what your asking
You can get a marriage license in the county clerk's office on the first floor of the city county building at 18th and Harney. Both people must be present
You can call the court house to see if you have a warrant. If it's a fine warrant, they should allow you to just pay it if not, they'll give you more info.
4:30 pm
Criminal/Traffic court is at 9:00 AM & 1:30 PM.. check your citation accordingly
Contact the city prosecutor
No it's opened
Only county court is opened
Not strictly, no. They will go in whatever order they see fit. Note: this question may have been asked as a way to check if it's okay to show up late. If so, then I'll answer that one: no, it's not okay. Court ends as soon as every case present has been heard. If there are 50 cases that day, you might be able to get away with showing up a half hour late. If there are 10 cases or only 10 people that showed up,, the courtroom will be locked when you show up a half hour late and there will be a warrant for your arrest. Don't be late.
You'll have to contact the impound lot, as the courthouse is not involved in this process.
Yes, except cases with children in juvenile court.
One does not. The state/city are the ones that choose to bring charges. Individuals cannot have them dropped. The most an individual can do is not show up as a witness, but that is not a guarantee that charges will be dropped. Individuals pressing charges is a TV thing. The way it really works is that a police officer will decide whether a crime was committed and will then forward the citation/complaint to the city or county, who will then decide whether to pursue charges.
This is a question for Douglas County Corrections (aka the jail).
For anyone else wondering this, you generally just show up for court, ask for a continuance, and explain why. You can also file a motion for continuance with an attached order, but that requires you to understand the legal process, which most of us will not. Note: if this is your first court date, then it's your arraignment. Unless it's a really basic traffic charge (no insurance, no registration, suspension), then you don't need to worry about bringing anything because it won't matter anyway, since this isn't your trial. If it's your trial, then you've already had a month to gather your evidence, so you better have a convincing reason for your request.
What do you need help with?
Public records in the county/ state they were married in. You need to know the specifics.
Contact the police and file a report. They may possibly send you to the Douglas County Attorney.
