I am trying to apply for a visa to Chile, and the online website shows no information regarding the documents I need to apply. When I call, they never pick up. When someone by some miracle does pick up, they say "go online and apply." I would love to apply if your website wouldnt just route me to go to the embassy. What are these people getting paid for? Just sitting and not even answering the phone, and having no knowledge about the documents required. When I asked what documents I needed, I was told to call "her coworker." I called the other number and was told, "dont call this before 2:30." The embassy closes at 1:30.... Do not understand this at all. UPDATE: So a month has passed and they FINALLY opened my application, only to begin requesting items which were not asked for within the initial application, and going really deep into everything I provided, asking information about my education, specific details regarding my business, notarized signature from someone inviting me(I applied as a tourist), and other details which seem to be never ending. I was supposed to go within a week but I do not think this will be happening.

Traveling to and entering a foreign country is a privilege. However, performance of a diplomatic post in dealing with visa applications speaks volumes. I’ll never forget when I got my visa from Danish consulate in a nice envelope with a small note wishing safe travels. In this regard, Chilean consulate in San Francisco is a big disappointment. I applied on 29 Oct 2018, with a travel date of 22 Dec 2018. My 4 follow up emails went unanswered between before Dec 3rd. After calling many times, Alexis picked up the phone on the 3rd, mentioned that he doesn’t know if it will be ready by 22nd and that I should call at 3 PM the next Tue for more information. I called at exactly 3 PM and nobody answered the call. Between 3 PM of 11 Dec and the next week I called 68 times (the number is exact because my phone tells me how many times I have called). Finally, a lady picks up, tell me to call later and that I should hang up because she needs to use the line to call someone. Are you kidding me? Later that day I was able to connect with Alexis again, who informed that my online application never got to their consulate. I have a PDF copy of submitted form which clearly shows the application was successfully completed and submitted. After 2 almost months of waiting, purchasing non-refundable tickets and booking hotels (as part of visa requirements), I didn’t get the visa. It’s a shame (and funny) that in 2018, an electronic application never gets to consular officer’s “tray” – as per his email. I would give -5 stars if I could.

this office represents Chile's bureaucracy very well. They act like they are doing you a favor helping you while giving you an awful attitude. They never answer their phone so if you have an emergency or an urgent matter, probably you will have better luck contacting another country's consulate.

I need to make an appointment to renew my passport ,
I ask the same thing because they don't answer the phone...
You have to go to the Chilean consulate in San Francisco and then validate it at the Ministry of the Interior in Chile, for it to be valid.
Veronica, this platform is not suitable for those kinds of questions. You should. Contact the consulate by phone or email.
IF she has an unidence state passport, I don't see a problem even more if she has the same last name. I have done it several times and I don't think anything about it.
Hello paola nose can the visa is clear only three months of tourist
Hi Fer, to get to Temuco if you must stop in Santiago de Chile
I have the same question; a friend told me what to call to have an appointment, (she did not give me more information) and then she tells me that she is going to adjust to the passage of a month or so
The knife inside the suitcase yes, not in bag or backpack; if it is not enough bread yes, and also inside the suitcase. Good trip.
