Amazing place!! Very educational as well inside the museum area. The outdoor gives you a wow factor and tell you the power of nature. Great for families and friends. Gift shop is a bit price like Disney pricey but overall is ok.

55,000 years ago a 150 ft meteorite struck the earth at 26,000 miles per hour. The crater diameter is 1 mile. There is an excellent visitors center with displays, a movie, a 4D theatre, guided tour, and a few viewing decks. Great place to visit.

Totally worth the drive! I was here when I was younger and this place got update. They have a museum and tours every hour. We go there and waited for the sunset to get the best photos possible. It takes about an hour to read and go through all the items in the museum. They have very interesting facts and details about the Meteorite. We didn't have time to do the movie theater that they had but the tour was very good. The tour is about 45-60 mins if you want to walk around the place. The rock colors changes as the sunset. Please see pics.

A wonderful place to learn about a very unique natural wonder. Well maintained, full of interesting and well presented facts and history about the Crater. Nice gift shop, if a little too tailored for the spiritual side for my taste. And the restaurant area was not available, so missed out on that. But definitely a great place to explore for an hour or two and not something you can do anywhere else.

And just another 30 minutes further to Petrified Forest Natl Park...
No it's not free for adults is 18 dollars and for 12 and under it's 9 dollars and 5 and under is free then before you walk in you would have to park then pay inside and after that walk out onto stairs to see the crater then it has many other cool things to see inside
Not dog friendly, they have kennel space though. If you brought your own there is space for it. I ended up just exploring the areas around with my dogs.
No, it's privately owned and not a national park. They do offer discounts though.
I believe its $18.00 per person...and you get a free subway cookie with admission.
