Horrible service. Attended customer that walked in after. Took those customers order before even bringing water/tea to table. Finally got to order and was given meal then appetizer and drinks. Was not happy at all with the service there today.

Tsuru Sushi, located in E-14th St., San Leandro, California, seats about 45-49 people on a good day. So hubby & I decided to try another Japanese place just for the helluvit. Ta-dah: Tsuru Sushi! For appetizers, we had savory grilled oysters & xiu mai. Hubby then ordered his usual salmon teriyaki while I ordered chirashi (mixed sashimi, miso soup, salad, & sushi rice). Honestly, I liked the fresher & bigger sashimi portions at Angry Fish better, which could be had at a lower price, too. Service was listless & inattentive. Piped-in music was a great mood-setter. Overall impact: OK, but needs improvement.

The raw oysters were delicious, but pricey. The tempura was 8/10. The fried chicken wings were also pricey ($9 for 4 tiny wings) but they were very good, as well. The yakitori was average. Unfortunately, while our server was very nice, she couldn't speak one word of English, so we could almost not communicate at all. I noticed some discrepancy on the bill that may have been a completely innocent mistake, but I couldn't even figure out how to bring it up and decided to just let it slide. We probably won't be back anytime soon but again, the food was good.

My friends and I were super hungry and were walking around when we came across this place. We thought why not and decided to give it a try. It’s a small sushi place and the service is super friendly. It was around 8:30PM and not very crowded. We ordered the nabeyaki udon, badass roll, oshinko maki, and the dragon roll. The udon was pretty good, the noodles weren’t too soft and the soup was pretty flavorful. The badass roll was really good and would definitely come back to get it. The oshinko was unexpected but expected, they didn’t specify what type of pickle was in there. The dragon roll was pretty good, they stuffed it. Everything was very filling and tasty. At the end, they gave us a digestif at the end that came with oranges. It was a nice surprise and delicious way to end the meal!
