Lovely bike ride AGAIN with my partner. A quick rainstorm did not dampen our ride/short picnic. Did the 16.6 mile loop. Not technical and a great work-out. Gorgeous. Thank you. Wanted to know about kayak rentals, could not find any information about that...so maybe not.

I am very satisfied with the entire trail system! Plus gotta love the warming huts and they are out doing maintenance daily to make conditions perfect you can tell there is a lot of love put into this place and They offer bike,xc skiing and snowshoe rental by donation Which is great for people who’d like to try any of these outdoor activities but don’t have the gear Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to get back on these trails!!

Although they have struggled with little snow this winter, the Riverside and tote road trails were even worse than I expected. I didn't expect tracks, but there was no grooming after the last storm: ruts, ice patches, foot prints, and fat bike tire tracks made for lousy skiing. They have a fleet of grooming equipment but apparently no one who can get the most out of it in low snow conditions. They also need better enforcement to keep bikes and walkers off the trails. It's a potentially great resource. Free is great, but maybe a small fee would pay for groomer training and make people more invested in the place.

An exquisite cross country ski area. Trails wind up the river for 13 kilometers, with a warning hut halfway and at the end. The trails are meticulously groomed, conditions were perfect when I was there. Trails are groomed daily. Classic and skate skiing trails are separate, as are snowshoe trails. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There terrain is mostly quite flat as it follows the East Branch of the Penobscot River. Trails are open in the summer for biking. I'll be back. The buildings are quite stunning with much attention to detail. The only miss in the whole project is evident in the buildings, however. Many exterior doors are not fully operable. All the roofs of the heated building were in danger due to massive ice dams. This is malpractice in building design and construction.

Questions & Answers

Will the trails be groomed and tracked this weekend? We live in southern Maine and would like to ski Sunday and Monday but don't want to drive up if they're not. No one answered when I called. I also left an email and Facebook message.

I don't know. I would have to call, too. Great spot!

Are there skate-skis available to borrow in exchange for a donation to the Maine Outdoor Education Program?

Hi Noreen, We have Classic skis and Backcountry skis available by donation, in our Visitor's Center on Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately, we do not have skate-skis available for our 2019-2020 winter season. Enjoy the trails! PRT Staff
