Great spot with lovely views from the top. Not too crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Cool structure called The Oven near the summit. Hiking poles would be useful for people with unstable joints. Neat transition from marshy area to hilltop.

I really cannot understand why there are so many 4 star ratings. This is a free, beautiful, and great hiking area. Folks, please appreciate what we have while we have it. The work done on the boardwalk was a major undertaking so you could enjoy it. The trails are great, the views are great, and the dragonflies are great. Yes, it does not allow dogs. There is info on the sign for other areas around there that do.

Easy hike, we had 3 kids (youngest 3) and we made it up and down without too much whining

This is a really nice, yet little known, hike across a ridge. The trails are well marked with information placards along the way. The view from the ridge is very nice, it looks out west at Mount Philo and the lake. There are several spots where birds hover on the currents.

Is it safe to hike there during hunting/trapping sesson?

The land is open to hunting and trapping, but the boardwalk part of the trail is very open and has good visibility for you and hunters.
