After the passing of my almost 14 year old Calico kitty , I've been looking to adopt another Calico, hadn't quite found the right kitty until now. Gulf Coast Humane Society made it a pleasure to adopt and were very helpful in answering all my questions about the kitty and her behavior/health. I'll definitely check in to adopt another pet in the future.

So I got my first dog there 2 years ago and everything went smooth. I've always wanted to rescue another dog because I remember how sad my dog looked in the cage. I went today with all my Vet papers and found a dog I liked. The staff wanted me to go bring my dog to see how they got along. They knew I lived in Cape Coral 10 miles away. But I gladly did for the sake of the dog. When I got back they said they were showing my dog to someone else. I said why since i drove all the way here just to bring my dog. They said I should have left a hold, which they didn't tell me at first. Ok, I took a deep breath and found another cute dog. Then the head trainer came out and asked if my dog was bonded to me. Kind of a dumb question for a "trainer" to ask. I have had my dog over 2 years. I showed them all Vet bills, etc. Then she said only a puppy would be good for me. So I drove there then back home then there again to tell me that. They should maybe post that if you already have one dog don't bother trying to adopt our kennel full of dogs. How sad for the dogs.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Attended the shelter today, after looking at a cat online. Fell in love with this cat and thought he would be perfect addition to my family. I’ve recently been diagnosed with PTSD and was hoping a cat would make it better, this animal society was not willing to negotiate or help out with the cat at all because I was 19. I was able to bring in my roommate who is 21 but they still would not give us the cat. The manager was extremely rude to me. I was willing to give this cat a home, filled with love, and the poor animal will have to either stay or wait to get adopted. Very unhappy with the way things were handled today. Don’t go to this shelter if your looking for an easy adoption.

Love this place everytime I visit always so many adorable animals being ready to be adopted I've had my dog there for seven years now and am still thankful to this day for her in my life.

I m looking for a Austrian Sheppard mix can u tell me more
What's your question my friend?
Yes it doing the right thing...it helps with their testosterone levels...helps relax them a bit and keeps them healthy...the procedure is rather short and the recovery time is as well...it will be over before you know it!
Yes they do All animals that are adopted are fixed they also have their own page that you can go to and see all the animals they have all my dogs that have been rescued are fixed microchipped and license through them good luck
No but they do have a board with people selling dogs and cats and items.
Good morning Steve I do not work at ASPCA but I can tell you this there is no exact age when you know your fur baby is that that point and you don't want to see it suffer then you should think about putting it down I had that decision back in February when my beautiful Labrador had a stroke she first lost her eyesight that are smell and then her voice box went that's when I knew my baby had to go see the man upstairs happy Christmas Eve have a beautiful Christmas
Yes
I personally hear anything today. But you can take her to any clinic or shelter and they can do like a microchip wand and see if she's microchipped thank you for your service 😁
So sorry...I will ask around. What age and is she spayed? Thank you.
Yes they allow student volunteers. My eldest is going to be a junior in high school and volunteers there. Depending on age your parent(s) will have to attend orientation with you. Visit their website and check out the volunteer information to be able to fill out application for volunteering.
Gulf Coast will answer your questions that you have. I have never heard of an applicant being denied for beinga first time owner. Just be willing to ask any questions about it
Be realistic. Ask a regular vet the cost of having a pet spayed or neutered. It is expensive. The adoption fee covers a lot more than just the spay/neuter cost. $200 - $300 is not a lot to spend for a lifetime partner. You probably don't need a pet. You don't sound like the kind of person willing to pay for adequate health care cost.
I just brought 5 there today and have 4 more beautiful ones coming in a few weeks. Go on up.
Shayne the shelter will take the animal with no questions thank you for your question and saving this animal
Yes, they have a clinic. Gulf coast animal clinic or hospital in Ft. Myers. You can find their phone number on Google and ask about price. They accept walk-in.
Do you still have the border collie that ne ed ds a home?
...Yes...
Hopefully if you are willing to spay the mom. Don’t shop...adopt!!
I'm not sure the weekend hours. Keep calling them. They will help you out. I will call also. They are a great place. Please don't to anything with the animals until you get in contact with them
If you type in Spay and nueter clinic it has all the information. Also a phone number. They always get back to you usually the same day. You have to pay 25 dollars down and if you cancel that goes to them as a donation. I was very very happy w them.
No-kill shelter. They will test for certain behaviors. Give it a try, it certainly beats the alternatives.
Perhaps the dog found their forever home.
Yes not many there is 1 that I know of
If the humane society does not accept them try Lee county animal control on six Mile Cypress excellent facility
Take them to the Lee county animal services they get no support they really need them
If its food/supplies you can donate directly. Money can be donated via their website
They should be able to, your basically surrendering your pet, if they won't try the animal clinic by 6mile cypress, it's near a sheriff's office
You would have to call Lee County Animal Control. They will pick it up and take it to the shelter. Gulf Coast cannot accept any animals that aren't owner surrenders.
Absolutely!!
I don't work for the Humane Society but you can call Animal Services in Lee County.
Yes we did Beautiful Huskador
They do have some beautiful cats there. And a whole lot of dogs it's really sad All these animals are waiting for the right someone to go home with.Although I did not adopt from here.I did bring one of my cat's to be neutered and they Where very nice and explained everything .So I would just call go there on the visiting time and look at All the choices you will have Good Luck to you.
They'll definitely take the sheets and blankets, they're always throwing out ruined ones. The bird cage is a possibility, but i would still take it to them as they may always have a need for it
I don't think so. Read that they don't take in lost/found pets, just owner give ups. I am currently taking ferels from my neighborhood there to get spayed/neutered & rabies shot but they don't keep them.
:( I would definitely call. I will tell you that they are super caring and compassionate:)
Best to make an appointment or call before you go.
I was informed by 3 people that he was murdered ( held under water ) by a woman named , Johnnie Chaisson Sanders , who now resides in Wetumpka , Alabama
Just your driver's license
Dont live in Arcadia
Yes all dogs are on the site. Call them to ask about the surrendering question.
It comes down to what is best for the pet....
Gulf Coast Humane Society is a great place to pick out your next pup. They have play yards where you and the pup can get to know each other while having lots of fun. The staff can answer any questions you may have. Volunteers provide regular interactions with the dogs so your new pup will have already been socialized, ready to love and be loved.
With foodstamps i believe $12 without foodstamps normal price $55 to $75 the one by fleamasters on Michigan ave fort myers goes based by income as well

I believe it was like 100$ to get cat fixed ...but yes call to make sure
Please go to their website and you will find information! :-) welcome !!
Have you CONSIDERED taking dog to Obedience school or find out. WHY theur behavior as as such? If you surrender your dog, I believe they charge you $20- on the other hand, on Facebook are groups like Lee Adoptable pets and other pet, dog sites in area you could REHOME your dig BUT be careful
The website has the list of adoptable pets
When we were there a few weeks ago i saw donated food...but sorry i did not notice if they were open.
Community Cats of Bonita Springs 239 699. 7108
I'm not sure how much shots cost. But, it's $75 for spayed. My cat already had her shots
I don't know. Calling them would be best.
Notify animal control .it wont be mich for his shots and all. Great vare for animals here in Florida.
There is an application process & of course you have to pick out the cat. There is an adoption fee, but it goes right back into the facility. I'm not sure if a home check has to be done. Do you have other pets or past pets? They will check on vaccine history.
No, currently they are only taking surrendered pets at this location. Lost dogs should be brought to the main branch on Six Mile Cypress Pkwy.
Hello: the news the other night told of a woman who hoarded at least 30 or more maltese -or other small dogs. They were removed from her home. I am a widow -I had a maltese who passed away after 13 years. He was my little love. I would love to give a maltese (puppy) a good home -with a yard and a loving owner. Please advise -I have never gone thru this process before. Frances Hannan 573-1133
Call them, our dogs have been very reasonable.
It is no kill they take surrendered animals only but sure about pigs.
They probably will but you should call them to check.
Sorry got the wrong person
Occasionally, but not more than a few times a year. As with all the furry animals they have, they would be available because someone has turned them in or they have transferred from another rescue/shelter.
Aww. I dont know if they ro or not. Good question though. I have 2 elderly dogs.
I had an awesome experience a couple months ago getting my almost 9 year old dog spayed. Lovely caring people!
You should really call them or visit with your parents. I'm not sure if you need permission I just adopted my beautiful baby girl Angel at 4 years old and I'm sure I couldn't live without her.
I have no idea. Why don't you go visit him
Yes
Call them for the best info.
Yes, I believe they can help. It would help them to provide them with your cage, food, bedding, etc.
Feral or stray cats can be taken to the Gulf Coast Humane Society. Check their website for their hours.
A lot of things you can do as a volunteer: Walk/socialize dogs, work with cats, foster, work fundraising events, large and small, donate $ or food/supplies, answer phones, help at the low cost clinic. Training is provided for all positions, and advanced training is available for specialized volunteer positions. All training is provided at no cost. Go to: GulfCoastHumaneSociety.org
They do take volunteers for community service after an hour orientation and tour there. I would check the website under volunteer or call them to verify.
I don't think so
Bllue healer is an Aussie cattle like the Australian Shephard
Gulf Coast Humane Society is a no kill Shelter
I paid $175 also for Jax and wouldn't trade him for anything!!! Clear the shelters because they all have a lot of love to give!
They usually have a cage with rabbits, I think I may have seen a hampster once. If you look on their website, it has the animals currently up for adoption.
Like Don said, they wont hold, but they keep their website updated if you want to check on the dogs. If the dog is on the site, it's at the shelter. If it's not on the site, it's been adopted.
Their fosters face different screening criteria. Which may result in a home inspection. I would go to the humane society and find out in person what the paperwork and expectations are.
Of course!
Single mom with 4 kids sorry it bothers you but cant afford to move again. I love my dogs but i have to think of my kids as well. I asked a question not to get a nasty remark.
Contact Gulf Coast Humane directly and see if they can take him or have a foster. They have a great facility and success rate for placement, evaluation, and making sure everyone is a good fit.
Contact the shelter or find a pit rescue. Whatever you do, do not advertise them for free on any site.
They have a set list of prices, visible when you first walk in. Puppies are most expensive, senior dogs are least expensive. All puppies are the same price, all adult dogs are the same price, and all senior dogs are the same price. You might be able to call and ask.
I saw some there a couple times, but their main focus is on cats and dogs. Rabbits seemed pretty rare but if you keep checking some do occasionally pop up.
You can call Southeastern Guide Dogs
They will take the kitten, they are a no kill shelter. They will also provide any medical treatment necessary.
How old to do the orientation
Yes but patents need to be present when children are volunteering
Take the cat to them and let them know the case, and pretty much had the cat over.
I have to ask around first
They're very reasonable But rely on their small fees and donations to be able to do the good work that they're doing. If you're on a fixed income or elderly they will work with you
Indeed
Very much so!! Go talk to Virginia
I have 5 small adult dogs would you like one if so I will give you one.
Yes they have a foster program also senior to senior program.
You can call and ask for charges, or go into office and ask for there price list. They do have one. It is very easy to know before bringing in your pet. Each shot and reason for shot is listed on price list.
Try Lee County Animal Control
Yes Thank you so much. I am wanting to adopt a small dog for companionship. I met a lady today that volunteers @ your facility. I would like to get involved in that as well. Thank you for the information. I hope I can find my little Fido soon.... or Francie
Yes but they are closed until monday
You can also go to the website to see everything available for adoption.
