Be realistic. Ask a regular vet the cost of having a pet spayed or neutered. It is expensive. The adoption fee covers a lot more than just the spay/neuter cost. $200 - $300 is not a lot to spend for a lifetime partner. You probably don't need a pet. You don't sound like the kind of person willing to pay for adequate health care cost.
The most that gulf coast charges is $200 and I was told that due to cover cost of chipping and shots and or spay or neutering is the reason for the cost.
Oh you don't know me so don't talk. On top of those fees you have to pay an apt deposit fee ($300) to have an animal. And $35 a month to the rent . I used to own a house and I had five pets that lived a long time so don't think you know me.
