As Greg Nichols' wife, I have some good things to say about the hospital and some not very good. The hospital is clean, nice environment, and a good cafeteria. And that's the good part. The staff on the other hand was not very professional, the nurse Linda L. was rude and did not even keep me informed of what was going on with my husband's surgery. Dr. Enriquez was very nice and he did call me after the surgery was done. He told me that the nurse would give me the update about my husband's condition and she never did. After 3 times of asking to speak with the nurse, I was able to talk to her only to hear a very rude and standoffish person on the other side of the line. Not really impressed with the staff at all.

Very efficient overall, however the check-in receptionist in the ER didn't even acknowledge my presence because she was too busy talking with another worker to say, I'll be right with you, OR what it's your emergency? I walked away, not even an attempt to ask what was wrong. The triage nurse was very helpful in calming my nerves at a stressful time in the ER and was very gentle. The woman who was cleaning either suffered a terrible loss lately or is not happy having a job, she seemed miserable and when a patient is made to wait in the lobby for test results, interaction with staff is vital. I've given 5 stars because the ER staff is there to save lives and they have always been there for me.

As a new Resident to the Bakersfield Community, I arrived at the ER at 1:15 pm with concerning heart symptoms. Vitals, EKG and Chest X-ray were taken pretty quickly after arrival. However, ,by 6:00 pm not one staff member had made contact with me. I eventually asked someone at the check in area of the ER what was the time line to be seen. She could not give a timeline. I asked if I be contacted via phone or text a little later. Was told their policy did not allow for that. I ended up leaving about 7:00 pm. This was not a good experience for me. I would never use this hospital again. I went to another local ER and was immediately treated for my symptoms.

I was very nervous going in to this appointment. More about the results than the test itself. However, the entire staff made me a little more comfortable through each process. The nurse who did my blood work and explained the results to me was nothing short of amazing! She was very thorough. She made sure I understood everything that she was talking about and made sure to ask me if I had any questions throughout the entire process. It’s very important that we as people, especially we as women, take our heart health, and health in general, seriously. I was very pleased with the results and the entire visit.

Do you have insurance at all? Insurance should cover the cost but the emergency has to treat you regardless of your ability to pay. Also i believe they have programs to help pay there also.
