The most perfect outing for a 1st time lesson or even an-experienced angler. Evans knowledge of the river and surrounding lakes are abundantly clear. Quickly changing flys, tying knots and getting us back in the water. After not catching the first fish I was able to quickly surpass my friend Jeramie which resulted in a clear tie. Evan was a perfect steward of the Watauga by helping us to better understand the conservation of this awesome resource! Couldn’t be more happy with his professionalism.Thank you high country angler for a good time! See you on the river again soon.

Great experience, Evan was an excellent teacher! He is personable, experienced, professional, and extremely prepared. He runs a high class operation with a hometown feel. He encouraged us to do continually get better throughout our trip. He even coached me up enough to catch more trout than my buddy. My son and I fished with Evan for 3 days at the end of March. Evan was a great guide and knew the river extremely well. Evan was very patient with the both of us and made the trips enjoyable. He knew exactly what flies to use and where to fish. We caught a number of rainbow and brown trout all three days. It was a great experience and I hope to use him again in the future. Great float trip with Evan on the Watauga river. Evan is very knowledgeable, friendly and has a great sense of humor. He made it a laid back fun day with lots of fish. I always prefer to fish with independent guides not large companies when I can and this trip was a great example of why. Highly recommend him and will be back on the water with him in a couple of months.
