The 5-star rating is for the location associate Tia. In this world we meet many type's of personalities and experience many challenges...especially at a monopoly such as the DMV. I'll spare the details about our challenging experiences at another location earlier that day. And just say that Tia was very helpful during our walk-in experience at the Clayton DMV and she has wonderful heart and personality. This message is for Barbara.......you were rude and tried to bully and intimidate my 16yr old niece when she came to get her license.....I absolutely guarantee you that you WILL NOT bully or intimidate me when I come to renew mine!! That is all!
You call hit the number two button, if they are busy give them a few minutes and call right back I called like two weeks ago to schedule my appointment and it went straight through.
Appointments only currently. As posted above you can schedule an appointment. If moving to NC you will need 2 forms of ID proof of residence and insurance (will not accept virtual card).

You do need an appointment for anything you do with the DMV right now which you can only get online at skiptheline.ncdot.gov I don't know if they're doing road tests right now though.
So does the waiver for road tests only apply to 16 and 17 year olds or does it also apply to 18 year olds?

Yes, you have to make an appointment. But I showed up and they told me to come back in an hour and I had a appointment.. Great DMV employees, they had me in and out quickly!! Quickest and best DMV employees and quickest time ever in DMV..
you can do walk ins yes, and also beware, there's this old guy that cussed me out under his breath, and the staff can be rude, so be ready, not the best experience

It might be easier to make an appointment but they might make an exception if you went there early in the morning. Especially during the week days since most people will be at work.

I think you might have to go there in person. It's almost impossible to get through on the phone.
Not if u don't have an appointment. U have to go on their website and set up an appointment before you can go there. And it might be a week or two before u can get in there
I ran into this to it's ridiculous. You have to go to skiptheline.ncdot.gov They will update you on all of the DMV's in the state that have an appointment available in the next two weeks. You have to keep checking back everyday until your local DMV has an appointment. It won't show up if there's nothing within the next two weeks. Once you finally make it you have to be within 15 minutes of your appointment time or they will make you reschedule.
For April they only served at half of the capacity of the previous April. So it's more difficult than the regular rigmarole. However once you're there you're in and out pretty quick.

No you cant get plates here you will have to go to the dmv on Atlantic ave. And i think there hours are either 8 or 9 to 5 in the afternoon.id registration for that particular vehicle.
Make sure the signals,horn works on your car, they will inspect how you drive make sure you keep both hands on the steering wheel watch your mirrors often. Dont brake so closely behind the car in front of you. Some may tell you to do a three point turn oh and wear your seatbelt and relax.
It depends on the kinda car plus year you driving which makes them lower or higher.

The Real ID allows you to go into federal buildings, fly, etc., have to go into the dmv building personally.
