Depends. If you haven't gotten one yet, it's best to have an I'd and your social security in hand before you take the permit test. If you pass the test which has almost 30 questions, they'll send you to take the on the road test. Best way to get that is to study the handbook. Some questions on the test aren't from the book so try to have some knowledge about pedestrians and other drivers. Especially when it comes to drunk driving and police officers.

From what I heard when I got there, they do NOT accept faxes anymore. You'll have to visit them in-person with the document and an appointment.
