Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Durham Southpoint

This hotel has a more traditional look and feel compared to Marriott's newer, more modern and bright properties; however, the facilities were very clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. Where this hotel really stands out is it's convenient but secluded location. Easy access to major highways, UNC, Duke, RTP and RDU. Only minutes to the impressive Streets at Southpoint retail area and within walking distance to Chick-fil-A and other popular establishments. The shower took a rather long time to heat up and the AC was somewhat noisy when the compressor would kick in, but ran quietly after that. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. Will return if visiting the area again.

Due to COVID-19 my room was not cleaned, I had to retrieve my own towels and with each passing day breakfast options dwindled down. I stayed here before and expected the same breakfast options as before, oh well. Hotel was clean. Staff was really nice.

Overall a good place to stay if you just need to stop over. Pros: great shower, hot water and pressure. The rooms are decently spacious and equipped with fridge and tv with Netflix and Amazon prime. Plenty of parking and right next to a gas station and shopping plaza for easy access to any food, clothing, and gas needs before getting back on the road. Cons: carpet looks like it could do with updating, we had dead ladybugs around the window sill, and on the top floor the bedrooms don’t get wifi. Luckily we weren’t working the days we stayed but that would’ve been an issue if we did.

When we came in the person at the desk was in the back watching TV and it was only 8pm. We had to call the lobby to get help. Besides that everything else was great. We only stayed for the night for my daughter's doctors appointment, so we weren't looking for much. We had a nice bed to sleep in, no issues with the heating unit and the refrigerator worked. I only wished there were microwaves and small freezer in the mini fridges.
