This is an absolutely fantastic historic site. They've done a great job keeping up with the exhibits and the grounds. We learned a lot thanks to the information provided. I recommend any fan of history visit and walk the grounds!

We were waiting for our ticket time at the aquarium. This area was right before you turn into the aquarium and you climb down some rocks! Highly recommend stopping! The beach was beautiful! Tons of unique sea shells!

This was a great find along the way when we decided to take the ferry across the water. Definitely worth the detour. Plenty of history and helps share the history so we can remember and learn from our past.

my favorite place to access the beach. parking is usually available however it's busy on weekends. nice grill area and bathrooms are conveniently located with changing rooms and a small wash station

This is the last fortress protecting the ports of the Confederacy open to trade during the War Between the States. The Garrison held out against overwhelming odds. In the end, it was overwhelmed by a combination of massive numbers on the ground, massed naval firepower and the mind numbing incompetence of General Braxton Bragg.
Not a good idea. It's illegal and a good way to upset the rangers.
He is from the show family guy its really funny
The tours are free and exceptionally well done. Visit their website for information on when the tours are scheduled. While there is no charge for admission to the museum or the tours, they do accept donations to help cover some of their costs.
We are free to the public and open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The Historic Site does not sell beach driving permits. You need to contact the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. They are the beach access in the area.
North end is good. Depends a lot on tidal shift and temps as to how deep they are, or are not. Good luck
