This is a very touching Monument to a great man who fought against fascism but you have to be able to hike to get there, it is in a very fitting beautiful spot and the kinds of things people have left in his honor behind have been most moving

Accessible from the Appalachian Trail. Its a moderate hike for experienced hiker's. The site is well marked for access to the ridge. Like many others I left a personal token of respect.. Audie Murphy was the most decorated soldier of WWII. The memorial was built by the Veterans of Foreign War. Its well maintained. Audie Murphey was killed in a plane crash near the site of this memorial. Its a quiet site for reflection.

Nice easy walk from the parking area. Maybe a mile. Good views as you walk along the mountain ridge. Nice monument to Audie Murphy at the top. With a great overlook and a bench looking out. Not much space on the gravel road leading to the parking area. Take a right at the top. As there is no sign directing you.

What is there to say? This is near where Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier of WW2 died, and the monument serves him well. Its sparsely visited, but lovingly so. The nearby overlook is blocked by tree growth, which is a shame. Bring a memento to leave behind, and pay tribute to one of America's biggest heroes.
