TERRIBLE!!! I called and made an appointment for Saturday 12:00-12:30 drop off for hazardous waste. The person on the phone confirmed the address with me and explained how to drop off all the stuff (mostly paint). I show up on Saturday to find all the doors locked and no one is answering the phone! I was able to speak to some people who work in the building and they said no one from that department was working- I waiting outside for 40 minutes!! Don’t waste your time, find somewhere else!!!

Make an appointment, drive up, get your stuff unloaded, and drive off. Couldn’t be easier or more convenient. Then stop at the Habitat for Humanity re-store for your building needs.

This is the business office address, NOT A DROP OFF. Appointment REQUIRED for drop off at other location. Go to their website for appontment and drop off locations.

I just got off the phone with Kenneth, and he was super helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you for providing citizens with the resources to dispose of household hazardous waste properly!

Any County of Santa Clara resident within our 15 cities, and those in unincorporated areas, may make an appointment at any HHW event/location. You need not wait for an event in the city you reside in, but some prefer that option for convenience.
Check with your city and garbage company. Some cities have abandoned waste pickup teams and others do not. The County HHW program does not provide any services such as what you are discussing.
walk in , have to be there early to make line
They accept household pesticides, including snail bait. More details, along with operating hours available on the website, you can start here- https://www.sccgov.org/sites/rwr/hhw/Pages/What-is-Household-Hazardous-Waste-and-How-do-I-Dispose-of-it-.aspx
Definitely.
Bring the ceramic log to us. It may not be hazardous or regulated but we can have the chemists take a look at it and will get it to the correct disposal.
You can make an online appt as long as you live in Santa Clara County (you'll need to show ID at drop off). Make sure the paint cans are sealed and dry.
Below are the maximum quantities allowed to be transported in your vehicle at one time. These are not our requirements but they are the law and intended for your safety and the safety of others. Of course you can make multiple appointments and return during our operating hours if you have additional materials. ----------------------------------------------------------- •15 Liquid Gallons •125 Solid Pounds Transportation law prohibits you from transporting more than 15 liquid gallons or 125 solid pounds of hazardous waste in your vehicle. Containers larger than 5 gallons are unacceptable. If you have more than 5 gallons of a single hazardous material, split it up into multiple 5 gallon containers. For your safety, transport waste in your trunk or the back of a pick-up, away from the passenger area.
Smaller 5-gallon or less propane tanks used for bbq's or outdoor patio heaters are accepted. In addition, small disposable propane canisters used for torches or camping are accepted and we strongly encourage use of refillable propane canisters for these applications.
Yes, old or contaminated fuels are accepted as are most flammable liquids. Please remember to bring them safely in a container intended for them that you don't want back.
