We had a great time. Some of the signs have started to fade, but others are very clear and informative. The veteran in the visitors office was very helpful. The day we visited (17JUL22) the sunset walking tour was cancelled, but we were able to create our own personal walking tour. Although it was hot, the sand was beautiful and cool. We didn't see any wildlife today, but have seen albino lizards and rabbits in the past. It's a wonderful place to visit with children and families.

Such a beautiful part of the desert. The visitors center has potable water 💦 I recommend stopping and filling up your water bladders and bottles to the brim. It gets HOT and there's not much for shade. We came right after a rainy day, just when the park was opening. It's beautiful ❤️

We always like going to the visitor centers. My friend and I are hikers and we have been going to all the state and national parks. We go to the visitors centers to get our stickers and patches for each place we visit. This was a really nice one and several staff members working here. All of them were very nice and polite. It was busy at the time we were there and they were all helpful and professional. The white sands are awesome to see. We climbed to the top and took several pictures. It is a huge area of white sand.

Great place to visit the Dunes and landscape are constantly changing g. Only place in the USA like it. Great fun for kids and adults alike remember to bring your disc/disk to slide down the dunes cheaper to bring it rather than to buy on-site. Entrance is slightly more expensive than I think it should be.

Yes it is. The gift shop is limited to looking in through the door only. They are renting sleds and doing returns still. Restrooms are open as well.
We got the America's Pass, $80/1 year, covers everyone in the car, good for entry into over 2,000 parks!
The visitor center was open but only allowing a few in at a time. Other parks we've been to this week have the stamp outside and or a park ranger there with the stamp.
There are two gift shops. One of them the employee will go get the item for you. The other one is really small, and you can browse the items.
It's not really sand it's gypsum
Yes, our family visited on July 10 without any issue (we're from NY State). The NM State Parks are closed to out of state visitors, but NM has no jurisdiction to enforce such a measure in a National Park. Enjoy!
Yes their is camping at White Sands first come first serve or reservation available and there was snow at cloudcroft at this time it's cold at night at both sites but you can't go wrong when you visit both.
