This place, a bit of a mess. A combination of high and low, good and bad and an absolutely broken food and beverage department. We understand that staffing is difficult today, but how to you have no visible staff in the main restaurant at 9:30 am on a busy Sunday morning? The complimentary coffee station had empty urns and used cups. There is no “to go” option. We waited 30 minutes for a server, and then ordered directly form the bar where a single, very good employee, was in way in over his head. Management should be fired—no presence, no oversight. Oh, and the guest room? Chocolate with the turn-town service, but the noisiest through the wall mechanical unit not even worthy of a Motel 6. The shower controls were coming out of the wall, worn and bubbled surfaces, deteriorating architecture, a dirty pool… very disappointing given the name and beautiful setting.

Beautiful 4 seasons resort and spa set up in the mountains off Stowe Vermont. Indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs, winter and summer activities. Not to forget The Roost, the on site pub/bar style restaurant offering up "top notch" quality food and drinks.

We were thinking about staying here. It looked like a beautiful place. Today we happened to be in the area so we stopped in to inquire more about the lodge. I was told everything I needed to know was online. The person at the front desk was so unhelpful and condescending. Every question i asked was such a bother even though there was no one around. I tried to inquire about the hotel amenities. I was told there is a $35 fee. It’s basically for the pool. None of the other activities are included. No food is included. There is only one restaurant. The reality of this place is not at all what the internet portrays.

Topnoth Resort gets my "go for it." That is largely because of the outstanding service. This was an accidental find through my usual hotel booking system. Its more-known neighbor has had been my favorite resort in Stowe. However, a suite room on the ground level with a sprawling living room clinched the deal for me. I like the modern setting (it appears to be the result of a recent renovation). This being not directly connected to the slope does crimp one's style. That is so far the only less-than 5-star (this is not in terms of standard hotel star designation). This is not a 5-star in terms of established hotel-star designation, but the facility, after renovation, could vie for a solid 4-star (my reservation system has it as a 3-star) The Spa is up and coming. The restaurants are pretty good, but the vibe is superb. It will soon be a desired destination for Northeastern Skiers. Go for it.
