Beautiful property and surroundings with loads of potential... but they haven't realized much of it yet (during summer at least). Won't be back... at least as long as they're overcharging & under delivering in nearly every aspect. Need to get some quality management, more informative signage (there are signs everywhere... just not helpful ones). p.s. if you use the back parking lot... make sure you get out of there every 12 hrs or you'll end up paying $96 for a weekend of uncovered parking. give... me... a... break

This hotel is great. We had great experience with the Mark from valet and Billy from front desk. There are some elements that keep the hotel from being a good resort (while they charge resort prices). The restaurant, Alpine Hall, does not make sense. On the one hand, after a recent renovation, it’s beautiful and modern. You can tell they want to make it nice. On the other hand, the prices are outrageous, especially considering the quality of food is just average. For example, bread is $5, and it’s grocery store level bread. The menu offers few options. It’s funny because the kitchen obviously has all the ingredients: beef, chicken, salmon, etc., but the menu has only one item for each (i.e. if you want chicken, your only option is this). We came prepared to spend, but left ordering very few dishes. Same with the poolside bar. It’s so expensive, barely anyone at the pool ordered from them based on my experience, on a nice sunny day. I get that the hotel can charge the skiers whatever it wants in the winter, but no seasonal pricing for summer = no customers in summer = everybody loses (overstaffing, high costs, high prices, unhappy customers). The other problem we experienced was that the resort shops close very early. That’s why I call this place a hotel rather than a resort. I bet summer is slow here compared to winter, but rooms are not that much cheaper, considering how little the hotel has to offer.

The lodge at spruce peak meets the standards of a fine hotel in my book. Nowhere else in stowe can one find ski in ski out accommodations with such luxurious offerings. The rooms have recently been remodeled and the furnishings are exquisite. That being said the lodge is expensive and can be very crowded during both the ski and summer season! If the pinnacle of resort living is what you’re looking for then search no further.

Since they never answered my email I'll post it here... Dear "General Manager," I have been meaning to email you about our recent stay at Spruce Peak, Thanksgiving weekend. We were extremely disappointed in many ways. We have stayed there once before, so were expecting more of the same wonderful experience we had there a couple of years ago. Needless to say, we were really looking forward to our time there. My partner has a very demanding job and takes very little precious time off, and we decided to spend it with you. We paid good money to stay where we wouldn't have to leave. We wanted to park the car and not see it again til we left. We found the high quality restaurants we expected closed; one of our favorite things to do when we travel is enjoy great food. In the "ballroom" restaurant there was a poorly set up bar, Captain Morgan rum which is a staple was not in stock, and the beer selection was ridiculously small. If you are experiencing this kind of shortage and unhappy clientele, it could have been easily remedied by sending someone to the store! The food was subpar at best ... we certainly had much much better food when we were forced to go into town every lunch and dinner to avoid another unhappy experience in the ballroom. The wait staff was extremely poorly trained. No one seemed to be in charge, and the hostess as well as the food runners had no idea what the table numbers were. The morning hostess couldn't figure out where to seat someone without first going into the quite empty ball room and double check, which caused a huge delay and lines. We saw the food runners/wait staff pass by the right tables and walk around in circles before finding the right one. I said, hey look, maybe those are our wings, but they went past ... only to come back 3 minutes later, none too hot. The valet service was well understaffed and we talked to another guest who said they'd misplaced a couple of cars. One night we had an hour wait to get our car to go out for dinner, thankfully we didn't have reservations. We should have just been given the option of getting our own vehicle. One of the charges in our bill is a "resort fee" ... we certainly did not get the "resort" experience, those charges should be refunded. All in all, we paid for and expected a 5 star resort stay and received at best a 2 star experience. Sincerely, C&J
