This is basically a for-profit parking lot in the middle of the national park. You can’t park overnight anywhere else nearby on the road without paying.

Foot bridge which provides access to McCarthy and Kennicott. Carts are available for hauling baggage across the bridge.

Place is stunning! Thankfully it was not too crowded and like some other reviews stated the river is so loud that it drowns out the sound of every one which is awesome. Prepare yourself to be forced to cross foot bridge and take shuttle into mining area. I was expecting to drive and then realized they don't allow cars across other bridge. I get it but wish I had known before hand. Can not wait to get back!! Camping was 30 bucks a night and they do take credit cards. Staff we're all super friendly and accommodating.
