We don't go to MacDill AFB often but when we do we like to shop at the commissary. The quality of their products is good and they have a wide selection. The prices are okay but would not, by themselves, make it worth the trip.

It's the post commissary of an Air Force Base. Of course it's five star. Seriously though, has everything I need, great prices, well stocked, 95% of the time staff are super helpful.

Very clean, organized and a lot of items to choose from. The prices are competitive or lower than the ones outside of the base. They have a great amount of variety of meat. There are some isles that are empty, but I am assuming is because of the issues with supply and demand that exists now. They have a pretty decent area with flowers and plants as you enter the facility. The isles are spacious and should not have any issues with navigating them with other people in them also. They have a very good and effective way to get to the cashiers without creating a backlog. They have the baggers that are very helpful and take your bags to the car. They depend mostly on tips and work very hard.

I love shopping at the commissary. With the high prices for groceries, you can save. The average price for meat (poultry, beef, fish or pork) is a lot cheaper than the local grocery stores. The workers are very approachable, polite and friendly, if you can't find an item that will look it up or direct you to the right isle/area. As a whole, they are nothing being short of being outstanding.

I'm not sure, I was under the impression bad Kirkland was limited to Costco Sam's Walmart. Most of the food that I consume had Parents so I don't know much about vegan food.
You can go to the visitor center at the Dale Mabry gate and apply for an agent ID. It will allow you to shop with her or by yourself.
If you have a permanent ID card then yes you can.
Only active-duty service members, Guard and reservists, medical retirees, retirees, Gold Star widows, veterans 100 percent disabled due to service, Medal of Honor recipients and all of their respective dependents are granted commissary access.
Better call Base exchange
Last year all disabled vets with a va id can use the px and commissary the problem is getting access to the base.
If you have a service connected VA disability and received an honorable discharge, you can go but bring your VA ID card. Stop at the service center to the right of the main gate to confirm eligibility. You will not get a retired military ID, but I think a card to shop at comissary and PX.
Yes, Happy Weiners are always in stock! Come by, and let us put one in your bun!
Mandatory mask. Same as regular stores, six feet apart and cover your nose. The police on base don't play. They will escort you off base.
Absolutely!! Plus they are not allowing guests.
MacDill is open for retirees. Only the main gate is open. The exchange it's open, but construction is ongoing and most of the food court it's closed.
The commissary is opened most holidays. You can call either the store, base information line or even look at there FB page.
First u need to go to the VA.
No, didn't see any when I was there
Only pork meats, no laundry detergent, no paper products, no hand soaps, plenty of fresh vegetables not frozen, lots of cereal and chips, if you need candy they got it, no milk, lots of medicines and vitamins. That's all I can remember when I went 2 days ago.
It's 5% for baskets and bags and upkeep on the buildings.
I am not sure
I only shop at the Commissary not the PX or anywhere else on base unless its the Burger King Only shop every 3rd month
Yes not sure but 100% sure they have the lowest price.
yes you can, but they cannot buy without a military ID
Yes, generally held in March
Military ID
If you have the internet go to commissary rewards ( all one word).com you can view everything there
I think others can buy but you have to show your ID card. My son shops there with me .
Generally they are only closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving day. Of course there are exceptions which will be posted on their website.
Incoming shipments are normally Thursday with stocking on Saturday and Sunday for the Monday and Tuesday surge. What I still don't understand with the commissary system is why they don't restock at night after closing rather than doing it while people are trying to shop. It would seem like common sense to restock when the store didn’t have dozens of people blocking the aisles and obstructing the flow of customers. Civilian stores restock after closing, why can't the commissary system do the same?
Call the ID card section and make an appointment, without appointment you can wait up to 2 or 3 hours .
I believe all Commisaries accept digital coupons now. It might be worth a quick call to them first. I know they have electronic coupons on the commissary card... perhaps you can try loading them on your card.
I once worked at the commissary in Germany as well and I have to agree with Sharon. When our duty station changed I went back into the system with CPO for next position.
Military ID is required for purchasing at any base facility
You can contact them to see if they can special order. Its worth a call to the DECA store manager.
So sorry for ur loss. U need military ID to enter the gate and to purchase things from there.
Yes, for smaller purchases. REGULAR HOURS are 9 am to 7 pm. EARLY BIRD HOURS are 6 am to 9 am, Monday thru Friday only. Plus, the Bakery area has free coffee in the morning. You can confirm the Early Bird hours by Googling: MacDill Commissary Hours.
Yes. Commissary is full and waiting for customers
Was told new shipment has arrived today.
Yes you can as long as she is with you at the time of purchase
