This was a sweet ride! You travel along the water way and it loops so you go on both sides. There is a beutiful Mural, trees marked in remebererance. Shade verses sun is balanced enough to get a break. Benches all along the water. Sheltered picnic area. Only draw back is there is no toilets. Plenty of parking, none marked for handicapped, but do not see it would be a problem. Dogs are allowed. This is a looped path, but there is one cut off I took and then returned to parking via the main road, which had a bike lane.

Nice little paved trails to run, walk and bike.

This is becoming a favorite place for running. Many cyclists are out enjoying this path, and many of them are even polite enough to indicate "on your left" before they pass. I have run on both sides of the waterway, and the only downside is that the path tends toward boring -- straight and flat. I understand that this is the topography here in this part of Florida, so I didn't downgrade for that. The path is maintained well, and it is open and seems safe. I was a little wary of the safety of my car where I parked behind some store next to Venice High School but it was ok. Highlights for me included watching airplanes land and take off.

We had a very hard time locating parking and the trail head. There was little if any signage. Most if our time was spent trying to find parking. The trail was fine, smooth and level

Any of the trailheads on the island side of the walkway
I suggest start by contacting the Venice City Hall at 401 West Venice Ave.
That's too bad, we actually found right before we left Florida to go home to michigan, were planning on checking more of it out in december, not sure who oversees it
On the Venetian Park Trail west of the canal just as you are about to go under Center St. there is a place called The Old Salty Dog. Good dogs and burgers.
Yes, you can kayak. Don't know about rentals.
