It is because of the care and attentiveness of the nurses at The Floating Hospital for Children that I myself became a nurse. Growing up having a biological illness is not easy at all. And trying to know yourself and who you are coping with an illness that is a part of you and will stay with you all your life is something that takes time to accept and live with. The care I received from my Primary Nurses and the other nursing staff throughout my childhood, the ups and the downs. And also the Child Life Specialists and the Playroom Teachers and Child Life Specialist Students made hospital stays not so bad, I looked forward being able to go to the Playroom when I was well enough to do so, play and recreation in the hospital and them coming to even visit me during the times I could not go to the Playroom to play, but spent time with me at the bedside and brought games, books and toys for me to play with!! I cannot begin to state the impact they made on my life in helping me. Now as an adult and as a nurse myself I see how much nurses, child life specialists and other health care professionals can touch one's life in ways they may never know. Sad to see this happen, but as time changes, and the world scene is changing the good memories are okay to hold on to, I wish to share with them a hope for a better future, where "No resident will say 'I am sick'" Isaiah 33:24 But because of the care they showed I continue to keep fighting with my God to contend to see a time where I can really give to them and share with them in a state of complete wellness, a life that will not have an ending that is sad or has to close for the sake of change, as the world will be in a state the Creator has always meant it to be. To The Floating Hospital for Children Nurses, Child Life Specialists and health care staff, Thank You.

After finally settling down back home I wanted to make sure I thanked the Angels that cared for my little Lily the days she was hospitalized. Nurse Sue (Susan) (and Katie who we only got to share a short time this time around) I could not put into appropriate words how fortunate and blessed I feel to have had the chance of meeting you. You are an exceptional person, the kindness you have shown Lily and I is way more than we could ever expect. I was so worried and frankly terrified about the procedure my daughter needed, and having you explain the entire process and also advocate for us really made it so much easier to cope. Although I hope to never have to see you in the hospital as a patient again, I do hope our paths due cross again and I'm able to get you a coffee and in some way return the kindness.

Floating Hospital for Children began as a hospital ship sailing the Boston Harbor for the first time in 1894. Heralded as a major innovation in pediatric medicine, the mission of the hospital ship was to take ill urban children out onto the harbor to experience the healing qualities of fresh sea air and sunshine.
