Was very disappointed today. Was seen quickly, told to start taking the prescribed meds asap. Went to CVS after an hour. They did not have any record of the prescription, but said they would call. A few hours later called CVS said they still did not have such. Left a voice mail with Urgent Care, which was never returned. Finally at 7 pm,. drove to Urgent Care. They said all I had to do was to call them, but obviously that did not work. Then they finally called in the prescription four hours late. CVS got it too late to fill, and said it would be ready by 10 am the next morning. So, urgent care did not call in the prescription as promised, nor did they return the voice mail & offered no concern about either.

Had to take my husband in today & we had a really good experience. Check in was relatively quick and then went right into a room. The nurses and doctor were quick, thorough, professional and kind! No one wants to have to go to urgent care but when you need it, I recommend this one!

Worst experience! My elderly parents went to this “opposite-of-urgent” facility after my mother (who was covered in blood) had fallen, only to be greeted by an emotionless human that could barely look up from her computer. She seemed to be annoyed by the energy it took to point to a wheelchair that we needed to help her into the facility, and told us to take a number as if we were ordering deli meat. Thank God we left as soon as we realized that no one but her knew we were even there. We took her to the new SMH Venice hospital campus where she was treated with care, compassion and speed. A few seconds of this heartless person’s time is all we needed to see if this facility could help her. This has nothing to do with the medical team, which could be excellent—just one person without empathy that should not “greet” scared, sick or injured people.

I had several medical issues this past month that needed to be addressed. I broke my wrist and went over to the Urgent Care. The care I received was fabulous. I walked in and saw that there were many people waiting and thought I would be there for hours. They x-rayed my wrist, casted it and made a referral to an Orthopedist all within one hour. They were very pleasant, professional, kind and efficient. The second issue was that I contracted COVID and they saw me and my husband who also had it. Once again, we received the best of care from true professionals. They did, however, refer us to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital ER because they stated they would provide blood tests that might be essential to our recovery. We had a terrible experience at SMH and will avoid going there in the future, but the urgent care has a lot of services to offer and I would urge anyone who needs help to check in with them first. The third problem I had was that I needed stitches removed from a surgery I had at the Dermatologist’s office this past month and because of COVID, I had to cancel with the doctor and I referred to the Urgent Care facility. Once agai, I had the very best of care by professionals who take that extra step to provide their very best! I totally recommend Sarasota Memorial Urgent care. It is fabulous!

Questions & Answers

What's the hand washing policy here? I was seen at noon 9/13/17 by two people and neither of them washed their hands. When I'm in a med facility, I like to see hand washing going on, before and after they touch me.

The physicians in the urgent care center do not have a primary care practice, they only see patients on a walk-in basis. There are some primary care practices in the building if that is what you are looking for. They should, if you're talking about Sarasota urgent care it's part of Sarasota Memorial Hospital. But they are not an emergency room.
