I had a truly excellent experience at Sarasota Memorial Hospitals ER. They got me back to a room pretty quickly and had nurses/techs and a doctor back to see me pretty quickly as well. Every individual I crossed paths with while I was there was an absolute angel, so kind and caring and truly making what could have been a very traumatic experience a trusting one, I truly knew I was in good hands and was going to be okay. Pre-op had excellent care, went over everything with me, confirming who I was and what I was there for and got me comfy and relaxed for surgery. In operating room everyone was very nice and I was very confident I had a good team with me, again went over what I was there for confirmed who I was, very thorough. Post op again was very nice had me comfy and awake for about 20-30 minutes before returning me to my room. Was in the hospital for a total of 3 days. The nurse/tech teams were amazing, quick to see you when needed, comforting and caring. They were absolute gems. The food wasn’t bad either and they have a lot of options if you have a regular diet, so if you’re there a little longer, that’s a plus. Before I was discharged they went over follow up thoroughly so I knew the game plan and so far recovery has been pretty good! One thing I would advise, if you’re getting surgery, be sure to take out all piercings while you are still in your room with your stuff prior to pre op. Mine went missing after returning me to my room and doing the bed exchange so I believe they’re in linens. That did not change my views on this hospital at all though, things happen and that didn’t leave a negative impact on the experience at all. I would recommend anyone I know to this ER, even if it’s a 30-45 minute drive, if it’s something that can wait that amount of time I would definitely make that drive.

The Surgeon, Doctors, Nurses and Helpers Exceeded my expectations. From the Emergency Room, Cat Scanning, prep, rushing me into immediate Surgery, EVERY SINGLE staff person was EXTREMELY nice to me, complimentary, giving, thoughtful with words and some even prayed with me! First Surgery EVER (hopefully last) and helped me from not crying the whole time. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! (The Girl with Beautiful Unicorn Hair 🦄💕) Vanessa

First, the good: Fantastic staff of valet drivers, administrative assistants, security, on- floor care people, phlebotomy, doctors, nurses, caretakers, housekeeping. Everyone is extremely nice, patient, thorough, understanding. Other than my radiology experience, I felt like I was in very good hands with people who want to do all they can to help and ease discomfort. I also appreciated how strictly mask-wearing was enforced for everyone, without exception. The bad: Very clearly BADLY understaffed and without ample supply! The staff that is there is great, but there are not enough staff or equipment! I arrived in the ER at 10am in a lot of pain. It took four hours to get me taken in for radiology and then to a doctor, the whole time I was in miserable agony, and it's not like no one wanted to help me or wanted to speed up the process. It was simply that there are not enough people on the floor, in any given department, to help. Although the inside of the hospital was clean, the waiting lobby is disgusting. The floor is filthy and there is not enough space to seat people within CDC COVID-19 precautions. The CT scan room didn't have enough lead covers to cover almost anything. I got a thyroid cover and was otherwise completely exposed, even though I only needed a lower abdominal/ pelvic scan. They told me that x-ray is using all the radiation covers right now and sent me through with only a small thyroid cover. I was in so much pain that even though I expressed that I want those covers, I didn't have the physical or psychological energy to fight for my right to minimize radiation exposure. This is unacceptable.

I had the best of care at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The staff in the orthopedics unit are all talented professionals and did their best to find out what was wrong with me. After 15 days in the hospital things became very blurry and some days are completely lost from my mind. I have never been challenged with anything harder in my 50 years. I have now completed 3 of 42 treatments to kill the bacteria that invaded my spine. I am going to leave a review later about how great of a cheeseburger they have!!! No joke... Delicious ALL STAR LINE-UP Allie, Alexis,Kasey, Will, Amity, Cat, Cathie, Karen,John and Anthony, Merlyn, Vlaney, Casey, Demetrius, Stella and (Lisa in the kitchen) P. S. Infection Disease Associates and Dr. Mercado as well as the orthopedic team saved my life!!!! I will walk again with no assistance!!!

Lack of compassion for patence.
You're welcome to message me privately or read my review. My family and I have had many experiences there. Some good, some bad, some ugly. Their ratings and reviews do reflect a need to address how our community experience is at our only public hospital.
Okay literally there's protocols in place for things just of this nature because you cannot wear metal when you are getting a MRI done so all metal is always removed including wedding bands so this is not a uncommon issue normally though it is a female's wedding band because they have the diamond generally, so what you do is call the hospital and get a report of all staff that was on duty they have to log in to use the MRI so it will literally be narrowed down to who was on shift at that time and using the MRI which will bring it down to two or three maybe five people But from that they can tell you who's responsible who is supposed to be responsible, and I don't know who said that there's nothing they can do but that is it outright lock, direct message me on Facebook I'm Devin Verizzothere's only two of me in the world and they're both me lol But click the one with the black picture if you need any more info, but you are completely entitled to your property and/or the replacement
The state licensing board-use google. Or you could call the hospital and ask to speak with his/her manager and report it there. It's critical to report for the professional and partients' safety.
Yes
Usually at the hospital itself. At least all of my pre surgery workups were there. Different parts but all at hospital. Workers very nice and will either direct you or have someone take you to where you need to go.
Use their website. Very easy to use. You can message the department or doctor you need. Great hospital because doctors and staff really care about you.
What are you talking about?
2nd floor. Use the D elevator.
No. They will give you antibiotics for an infection associated with a toothache, but you'll have to go to an actual dentist to take care of the tooth.
I don't think so
If you're eating inside the hospital on the 1st floor its called 1700 cafe
Usually 2 in each room but they have a lot of wings and floors I'm not sure how many in total but it a very nice hospital if whoever gets admitted good food as well
At this time, SMH does not have sufficient vaccine to host large-scale vaccination events, nor do we know how much (or when) we will be allotted in the future, so we are not maintaining a waiting list for those seeking vaccination. As supplies become more readily available, we will continue our efforts to expand vaccinations for healthcare workers and high-risk people in our community; updates will be posted on this webpage: https://www.smh.com/vaccine The Sarasota Department of Health, some clinics and some retail pharmacies are facilitating community vaccinations for eligible residents in Sarasota County. For updates and information on public vaccination opportunities, community members should monitor local news media and Sarasota County social media; and visit scgov.net and sarasotahealth.org online. For assistance registering for Sarasota's community vaccination program, call the Vaccine Registration Call Center at 941-861-VAXS (7 am - 7 pm, Monday - Friday). Additionally, we recommend visiting the Florida Department of Health's website for information on vaccination sites and other important information: floridahealthcovid19.gov.
I think they will send you to a dentist. Lots of them around.
Hello- Currently, SMH utilizes the ROSA robotic platform. You can learn more about ROSA here: https://www.smh.com/rosa and SMH Orthopedics here: https://www.smh.com/Home/Services/Orthopedics
No. Not at this time.

Hello- There are several locations for the SMH Outpatient Lab. At the main campus (located in the Waldemere Medical Plaza on the 2nd floor) the lab is open Monday-Friday 6:30am-5pm. For other locations and hours you may visit: https://www.smh.com/lab
Yes they do treat patients with no insurance and if you can't pay they offer payment plans
No idea about the number, maybe it is a confidential information but has to be quite a lot, also OBECC unit has very nice ratings and patience satisfying opinion.
You have to go to the Waldemere garage, once inside after the first right hairpin turn you will see an orange wall on your left. Pull there and a nurse or employee will bring your relative to your vehicle.
Call Sarasota Memorial and ask. There are charitable groups in Sarasota where you pay on scale based on your income.... North County is one. You see a Dr there, the they refer you to SMH for tests.
Can not answer this
Yes across the street from the hospital. It is the Heart and Vascular Center of Sarasota building, the one that is on the corner of Waldermere, that is where I used to go.
If you call, they will probably ask you to come in for a proper diagnosis. Although they would take care of treating what is causing your pain, depending on the severity if it's not an emergency I would say go to an urgent care
Yes we have a volunteer program for that
The 7th and 8th floor of the Tower is the cardiovascular section. SMH is known for their cardiovascular care and is the most advanced in this area of Florida.
ahhh....thats a good question. The dog will probably not be allowed above the ground floor. Can the patient leave his/her room and go to the public common areas? ask the head nurse what the policy is.
Yes, SMH will reimburse for schooling wjth a contract.
Call HR Dept
Ask a guide to take you when you go in the front entrance. It always helps to use a hospital guide when you need to go somewhere for first time.
Not sure on that one
Drink 15 fluid ounces (a bottle and a half) of lemon or lime flavored Magnesium Citrate. To improve the taste, chill it ahead of time. Immediately after drinking Magnesium Citrate, drink at least 2 to 3 eight ounce glasses of clear liquids.
busy
Yes and there is an outpatient dropoff in front of the same day surgery across the square in front of the other building where the sameday surgery checkin is located on the south side of the campus.
Just about all of them.
No
Go to the public health dept off Ringling
Possibly....I have seen small campers parked at the main entrance valet parking lot. Also, you can park in the public spots along Hillview st. There are parallel parking spots on the west side of the round-about, im sure a camper could fit in two of the spots.
Friends, likely not. Family yes.
One of the best hospitals in the state.
They don't. Unless by ambulance. It's your health insurance provider who takes care of that
Yes, there is a hemodialysis but it is only for in-patient . There is also one in the waldemere building ground floor for general use
Not that I know
I was on the 7th floor and they encourage family to stay with patients who are anxious or elderly. I believe all the rooms on the unit I was on are private and had couches that's made int beds for visitors.
