A good place to get away from the city. They keep well maintained all the campground sites. Good service, nice and friendly good people there.

Went last weekend with the family. Before we booked our trip we went on their website. "They said low river". False! It was dry. There was no water running. My kids complain the whole time. They also have a sign saying no refunds. We were miserably hot

Such a great campground. Just keep in mind unless you have cell service with Verizon u will not have cell service what so ever even the payphones by the office don't work. We come every year and each time we explore a new section of the campgrounds. Also the squirrels here are intense unless you have your food in totes they WILL get into everything!!!
Tatiane, we were there two weeks ago. There hasn't been much rain to raise the water level to a usable level as far as tubing goes. Yes there was a brown algae bloom it wasn't super bad, my wife and two kids played where the water was clear but we made sure they didn't touch their faces and we rinsed off our bodies after we were done. If the water level has lowered even more it wouldn't be worth it if you were planning on just tubing.
Hi there! I’m a first timer there and went to look around yesterday before we camp. Are there only certain sites available if you reserved 2 night tent camping?

Hello Adrienne, its first come first serve pretty much anywhere you can camp, we got there Friday at 6am and we find a great spot good luck.
"safe"ish for children yes it's still not a man made ride so there are rocks and stuff to watch out for but this year in particular it is flowing nice and high
It’ll be my first time there this wknd. Does anyone get turned away because place gets too full? May not be able to get there till 3pm on Friday.
What spots are “good” spots?

I would recommend 2b and you can get turned away if you don't have a reservation.
Yes La Jolla Campground is open now and yes their should be water running down the San Luis Rey River on the memorial weekend, but you can call first to make sure about the river running. Hope that helps you.
I do not know the name of the spot but there is a bottom of a small waterfall by the campsite called the hole. They do have catfish because I caught one and at night the locals came and went fishing
Yes, our water spigot was at the end of our site. And bar b ques & plenty of shade! Our favorite camp sites now! And if the creek is flowing, you can inner tube down it, they have for rent. Call first to see if running. Forgot to mention, has free showers also.
The water level is currently low, we went down the 2 days ago and we were bottoming out alot. The campground said they open the dam on the weekends so the water level is going to be higher then and dropping as the week goes on.
Does anyone know if they're allowing first come first serve without reservation for 4th of July weekend? I'm trying to contact them but no one answers, and I'm scared of showing up and them not allowing us to camp once we're there.
HELP!!

They are taking online reservations only and that weekend is completely full
There should be a number to call. It is first come first serve. There are rv spots, so I assume generators are ok? The parking situation is 1 car per spot, we ended up parking our extra cars at Harrahs casino. It wasn't ideal but worth the whole experience. We had a great time.
Hello there are 7 areas and each one has bathrooms for both bathing and toilets during the night closed but outside these are portable toilets, the only bathrooms with hot water for bathing are in the entrance area
What's the number to get ahold of them this is the number they gave me when I was there two weeks ago. Left three messages to call back it says they will not sure if anybody else has had this problem.
Yes there are. As a former employee we've had a few encounters but its common as with other outdoor trails or outings. just be aware of your surroundings and always watch where you walk. try not to venture off the paths and roads. If you do encounter one an employee will relocate it if necessary.
I follow them on facebook and they are still cleaning up from the storms but said that they should be open end of March/early April.
Do you have any pull thru rv camp sites?? if so what are the good ones ??

I think the answer is yes, as I saw many spaces that fit that bill when I was there for an event, but you're probably best off calling.
Hi I know pets are not allow,,I have a service dog,,I'm driving from AL and my dog is a service dog, just want to make sure he can be there

I heard your campground was closing down, is true?

If you have any questions you can call the front office at our campground, i know were going to be open year-round now but im sure we have to close down soon as it is normal routine after the busy summer season.
You can only make a reservation if you have an RV. It is very hot, some areas have allot of shade tree while others do not. It's great for kids in the day when they can get in the water, but there is no quiet time at night so the drunk people are extremely loud all night long.
Its always flowing. During peak summer months, especially on weekends, the gate from Lake Henshaw is opened more for more river rapids and fun for peeps that are camping at La Jolla Reservation.
Cars can come in seperate, and pay as you come in, seperately. It space varies on room for cars....its 1st come first serve to get your spot, so the earlier the better. They really pack it in up there in the summer, especially wknds
Hello! :-)
Happy Easter! HE LIVES!

The campground just opened last week. The river won't open until Memorial Weekend for tubing . The dam hasn't opened yet, so it's more like a spring until then, not good for tubing yet.

If you go in at midnight you WILL be charged for the day before. Security may check you in and you will have to go back in the morning to pay for your permit
