I have been going to this location for years. The staff is friendly and experienced (for the most part) and very professional. Even with an appointment unfortunately there is often a long wait, but if you just assume that it’s not a big deal. The facility is pristinely clean, kept nice and cool (in fact especially if you are doing platelets or double red I recommend bringing a jacket or wrap) and the nurses check on you constantly to make sure all is well through the whole process. I’ve had frustrating experiences at the school or parking lot drives with less experienced staff having issues hitting my vein, etc but never at this location and no bad bruising or anything after. Strongly recommend.

I made an appointment for 9:45 on 2/6/21 and after 1 hour waiting for someone to come out and at least acknowledge for being late, I left. Twice I asked for status and finally manager Cynthia came out from the back but would not have much to say. There is no excuse to at least be polite for the tardiness without volunteers having to summon the manager, or be clear when one comes in the door and let us know that it could be 1 or more hour waiting so we can decide to wait or not. Unfortunately I will not be donating at Laguna Hills center again for the lack of basic management skills.

American red cross always needing blood and palettes. Folks are nice and performing a well needed service for many. Only gripe I have is that it's not so easy to get in without an appointment which is odd when they are always in need. I've given blood since the 80s and always when I had a few spare mins. I'd drop in, drop a pint and get out. Appointments make it difficult to help out, although I continue to try.

Tried to donate blood, but actually got light-headed and almost passed out, so I could not donate. They were very nice about it and even gave me cookies and Gatorade to help me get more stable before leaving.

It's free! No need to pay. You can go on the website and make an appointment. Walk-ins are available but may take longer at times because those with appointments are prioritized.
I think that is a question for a medical professional. I would contact a Red Cross donation center directly.

Hydration before donating blood is good. If donating platelets I'll have my last drink roughly 2 hours before donating to avoid a full bladder during the 2 hour process.
They don't pay for blood, however, there are sometimes discounts, or gift cards.
