From the second I walked in I was attended too and genuinely cared for.. everyone I encountered was present and kind I wasseen and admitted and brought upstairs so fast I was shocked. I had a nurse named Jane , and she is easily the nicest nurse I’ve ever had. Attentive , caring, and she listened… she made me feel comfortable and you could tell she liked what she did and it wasn’t a job to her.. shout out to Jane on E373

Today, I met with one of the nicest persons ever in the medical field at South Shore Hospital. His name is James and he's working in the nuclear medicine department. His therapeutic communication with me was simply perfect. I am very claustrophobic. James caught this in a blink of the eye and was very nice and shows a lot of empathy to me. He made my day. I was trying to have this test done for a long time but, because of my phobia, I couldn't do it. For me, James is the employee of THE YEAR! Thank you, James! May you never change. Besides the sweet and loving presence of my husband by my side, your sole wonderful attitude helps me a lot to get through this lengthy scan! Thank you for being so nice!

I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless arriving by ambulance. We arrived a little before 11PM and It took close to 3 hours for us to be seen. My wife was in severe pain and we wanted to make sure she didn’t have an ovarian cyst or anything of the sort. At 5am we finally spoke to a P.A. And he said we had to wait until 7am for an ultrasound because they had no technicians. After waiting 9 HOURS we had the test done and has to wait another hour for the result. A different PA came in and quickly said “you are not pregnant, I’ll be right back”. And never came back. A different nurse came in a little past 10AM and said “good news- you can go home”. When I asked for an explanation the nurse blamed it on COVID or a possible side effect from the vaccine my wife took a year ago. After spending 24+ hours awake waiting for an actual doctor, the PA just sent a nurse to say it’s related to covid and you are free to leave. When I asked about who saw the ultrasound results the nurse said she didn’t know but we are being released so everything is fine. Terrible experience being left close to 12 HOURS in a freezing cold bright room and leaving without any explanation.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I came into the ER last night in dire straits but instead of being treated, I was dehumanized, humiliated, and gaslit. The nurse (Diane) running the ER didn’t acknowledge or write down my preexisting conditions, completely dismissed my symptoms, and treated me with a fundamental lack of compassion. I told her and the staff that I was close to passing out and getting tunnel vision and asked if there was anywhere I could lie down, even the floor. She promptly said no and that if I passed out they would “resuscitate me and put me back in the wheelchair.” But if I “could sit there and talk to her, that I was fine and not going to pass out”. I started to really fade so I got on the ground in a desperate attempt to help myself and prevent a full blackout. Her response was to security on me. I ended up leaving the ER in tears and feeling worse than when I arrived. I understand that nursing staffs are overworked and under appreciated… but NO. ONE. DESERVES. TO. BE. TREATED. LIKE. THIS.

Hi Kaila--We do offer hydrotherapy during labor, but try to move mom to a bed for birth itself. Hope this helps!
Hi Bob--Go in the South Entrance of the hospital, and go to the McKim Concierge desk. They can help you find where your lab work will be done.

First floor. Go into lobby, take a right past the 2 elevators, take right past 3 elevators, take left and then another left. Is there a particular spot you are looking for?

Opposite 41 Columbian Street (the apartment building) by the South parking lot 3. On Route 18 in front of South Shore Hospital at the steps adjacent the outpatient pool building, near the outpatient entrance to the left of the main entrance 4. In front of 780 Main Street at the steps to the parking lot.
