I have been a member since 1996, I love being a union member I get three retirement programs, which include an annuity, a yearly NEBF which means national electrical benefit fund which pays me $32 a month for every good month that I have been in service, we do a very dangerous job and a very important job of rebuilding California’s Electrical infrastructure and the US infrastructure, we work very hard to make sure California and the United States has their electricity that we all need… So please support you’re a IBEW electrical workers.I also get medical, dental, and vision benefits for my family… Union work is great work every American should join a union if they are able to do so

Probably. Check the website
Usually at the beginning of the year. It's when most companies hire.
If I'm not mistaken it's every third Saturday of every month and welcome in brother also local 47 ✊
U need to have your 6 months dews up front an just go to the hall an talk to them about it
Not btwn 1200 and 100 there at lunch.
Install underground structures such as vaults , pme's , burds , manholes and even handholes . Install any piping that it takes to get from point a to point b . You will also be doing some concrete work, landscaping restoration, paving and block walls . We dig holes for poles and anchors when they are too hard for the line crew to do. Basically anything it takes to get pipe in underground.
Same jobs as the men.
That doesnt sound right. You should go in and have a conversation with someone in the office. Chances are you are lacking a certification of some sort. The minimum qualifications, and I mean bare minimum is a valid drivers license, GED. However, it is prefered that you posses a valid commercial class A, OSHA et&d, first aid/cpr/aed, high school diploma and 1 year of algebra, verrifiable construction experience at the entry level. Other desirable certs include crane operator, rigger, pole climbing, welder, heavy equipment, as well as endorsements on your commercial liscense, and electrical work experience.
Class A is a must for that coming cert to mean anything.
Walk in. Lunch is 12 - 1. Local 47 does dispach between 8am and noon. I would advise walk-in any time other than dispatch and lunch hours.
Yes
Depends on situation. If you are laid off, you can sign same day. I have never quit, rejected a call, turned in a call, or been fired from a company; only laid off when work slows down. There is a notice hanging on the wall at the local dispatch office stating that if you turn in a call (quit within a certain period of time) you will be held off of the books for a period of 14 days. Additionally, being fired for cause you will most likely have to appear before the board.
The company has to pay what the contract between the union and contractors states. If you took a call from the hall for the job. The company has to pay the wages that the call was for.
Call the hall. They can answer all your questions. If you have enough experience working non union they may lest you test out and get a white ticket.
Dan, sounds like some extenuating circumstances. Too many varriables to give a generic answer. The hall handles union business every morning between 7am and 8am. Dispatch between 8am and noon. You wont be able to address your concerns during dispatch hours. Call around 7am, and follow up after lunch around 1pm.
Depends on your classification. Personally I like to prepay a minimum of 6 months dues. That rounds out to just under 240$ for me every 6 months.
40 hrs or less straight time
