Unprofessional I took a baton class over a month ago (that my company paid for) and still have not received the actual permit. I was only handed a certificate and told it would only be a couple days wait until they got more permits. I believe I took my class May 10 2022 yet here I am today with no permit.

Quick Training. Background Checks Took 2 months to go through Here I am 2 months later... I called them about the status of my physical guard card. My background checks went through and I was issued my licence #, I checked on the DCA website. I called them to find out if they had sent out the physical cards out already, And how long was it going take to get to me. No one has called me, answered or emailed me regarding the physical guard registration cards being sent out. Graig, or anyone in his admin, if you see this please contact me so we can expedite this process. Thank you to Graig and his assistants at The American Training Academy for helping me with this license. I want to take my firearms class next.

The experience was great and they made everything clear although I’ve been waiting since November for my guard card and I don’t know why …. I thought it was going to be an easy and quick process .

Great spot to train with probably the best prices in town. Did my pepper spray and baton training here recently and it was easy. Received both certifications same day. Laminating machine was locked away so couldn't get them laminated there and the typewriter was locked in the main office and Craig (owner) was already gone for the day. Day after a holiday so I'm not gonna knock off any stars. Everything had to be written in. She (the receptionist/assistant) said I was welcome to come back to get everything typed and laminated next day but it's not a big deal. They are valid whether typed or not. I can get them laminated for a few cents each at Fed Ex or a dollar at Staples. Easy peasy. Staff is also welcoming and friendly. Things can get a little slow at times, but not painfully slow. Mainly a lot going on and sometimes not enough staff to attend every need. Live Scan is what takes the longest because you have to wait for the people who do the live scanning to get there. Thankfully what I came for, didn't require any live scan or state fees. But at least I know what to expect when I come in for my FireArm processing whenever the time comes. Pepper Spray and Baton cards do not expire as long as your guard card stays valid. I'm happy because now I can start my new position next week! In less than a month, I will also be returning to do my firearm qualification since my job will require it. Again, cheapest prices I've seen with everything included. I think it's $371 for everything including the course, the range, gun rental, ammunition, live scan and state fees. Plus they train you for like 2 calibers; any additional calibers added on are like $20 each (I THINK; but check to make sure) which is great. Re-qual is $40 per caliber I believe. Most other places are in the $500 to $700 range for everything included and only train you for maybe 3 different calibers. Classroom course is there onsite and is walk-in welcome on any day. Range day is every Wednesday. So no matter what day you start, jusy remember that range day is always the following Wednesday. It is completely worth it to invest in your career as a security officer, ladies and gentlemen. Getting your guard card is half the battle, because at least you can get a nice steady job. But if you want to be able to make more money, upgrade and get more licenses. It's worth it. Even getting just your pepper spray and handcuff licenses can qualify you for better paying work. CPR/First Aid is also very inexpensive here, I believe it's $40 to get the card, and $30 to renew after that. Taser license only $100. *Update I now have my firearm license as well. It took a little longer than it was supposed to but that is no fault of American Training Academy; it is the fault.of BSIS. My background check and everything went through, but somehow they overlooked my application and forgot to push it through and send the letter for the assessment. After a few phone calls to BSIS, I was finally able to get the ball rolling and I now have my firearm license in hand, laminated and all. Thank you, American Training Academy! See you in June or July for re-qual and to possibly add on one more caliber! I hope you get lots of business I've been referring everyone over to you guys!

You would have to start all over again like a new guard card if you allowed it to expire, depending how long ago it expired. If it's less than 30 days past expiration then it's like $65 but if it's past that you'll have to take the course, get fingerprinted etc as if you are getting a new card. May take less time for it to process this time around though since you are already in the BSIS system. Prob 2 weeks tops.
No... American Training Academy is where you get your training, which enables you to apply for your guard card with BSIS (Bureau of Security & Investigative Services). Once you complete the 8 hour training with American Training Academy. You’re instructed to go to their referred Live Scan person or you can choose to go to your own Live Scan person of your choice. Which is your background check, submitted along with your application for security. If you don’t have the security application. They’ll just maybe charge you $1.00. Or just give you one. Once your live scan clears it is automatically sent to BSIS (Sacramento,CA). Which is the place that “gives you your guard card”. I received mine in the mail in about 3 weeks.
Only thing you wouldn't get same day is the firearms but that's because you have to take the course and pass it, then go to the range and qualify, then submit your fee to the state IF you pass the range qualifications. From there it takes anywhere from 3 weeks up to 6 months for your permit to go through because they are super backed up as far as processing the applications up in Sacramento at BSIS. But Baton, Spray, Handcuffs, Taser, pretty much all other weapons except firearm, will be ready same day. I got my baton and pepper spray same day. Just finished my firearm and range qualifications and passed.
Yes
Approximately $375 for everything including your course, firearm range fee, ammunition, livescan, and state fee if you pass the range portion. Don't need to worry about gun rental either since Craig has the firearms for you to use. $375~ will pay for 2 calibers but if you want any other calibers on your permit I believe there may be an additional fee. But not much.
Depends on the offense, frank dux has 32 assault charges and been in and out of San Quentin 10 times trains all day every day. So to be completely honest with you i shouldn't be concerned at all my friend.
Tge class is $50 for 32 hours certification, $69 for live scan and $45 for licensing fees
It's about 550$ and like 12 hours for the firearms test and quiz
CSC in Torrance. They will assist you in getting your guard card.
I didn't get a guard card from American training Academy. I already possessed mine . I am in the process of waiting for my open carry. That's a long process but that's only due to waiting for the government and city to complete their portion of my background Check.
Yes start all over like me
I called the guy he said everything was complete
They have no trace of my info and I did my guard card training with you
Contact the " Bsis " and see if its possible to re apply or wait the required time to start the process over again.
How much is it
What type ?
No
Yes they do
It's Self Pasted
You would have to come into their office and register with a photo ID, and then ask them what you would need in order to take classes for an armed guard licence. The process is more longer, the BSIS would do a background check for any criminal records as well as check if you have passed a firearms training program or not. I myself just got an unarmed guard licence and was able to finish the class within three hours.
