One of the most beautiful places in the US. Probably one of my most favorite, if not THE favorite, National Park. Stunning views. Beautiful hikes. Hard to beat. Get to any parking area early so as to not walk further. Won’t regret visiting.

If you're coming to Washington State, I highly recommend visiting Mt. Rainier. The mountain is so beautiful and the views are incredible. The park is huge and has a lot of different trails to hike, so there's something for everyone. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the park is well-maintained. I had an amazing time visiting Mt. Rainier and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

STUNNING. This was one of my best days on my trip nor my life. I loved the climbing and site seeing in this park. this is one of the best parks in the US and my favorite by far, maybe almost as good as Yellowstone. The amazing views from this mountain are so amazing and the multiple areas to go off and explore for your self are just as good.

This is a gorgeous breathtaking national park that I had the opportunity to travel to back in 2019 and would love to go back. Every view seem to be more gorgeous than the first. I loved taking pictures here but they didn't do justice to the immense beauty. It's God country and would highly recommend going here if you hare ever in the area or just make a trip here to see it and hike the area.

Yes unless caught inside the national Park, in which case no
There are some camps that require a permit, which is $20, and some that are gratis. These are listed on the website.
A must-see if you haven't already. Best time is during the week, in early spring, late fall, no crowds. Check with NPS website for road conditions, weather, etc.
Yep!
It is absolutely stunning! No matter the time of year!!
It is off of Paradise Valley Road where it intersects with Van Trump Creek. There should be signs and road parking.
It's a 93 mile long hike that goes around Mt. Rainier. It takes an average of 10-14 days to complete it, but many people hike small portions of it each year.
As Dylan said, it's open 24 hours. Ticketing booths very based on season but are typically operating between 8am and 4pm.
There are signs that say no dogs. I saw 2 that day. As a dog lover, I didn't think it was appropriate to bring a dog especially with the signs.
I'd say the best time is late July or early August. May is just getting out of the cold season
I think you must phone them.
It's been since 1894 since it last erupted and it is 14,411 ft 😀
Dogs are allowed on leash in car areas or sidewalks, not on any trails.
You need a Wilderness permit to camp in the park
https://visitrainier.com/transportation-and-tours/
Nothing wrong with carrying, its ridiculous someone would judge someone for carrying
Hopefully you have bear spray. My 3 visits I didn't see one.
Main place for first time goers is Paradise, great place, beautiful, you will want to come back
The Nisqually Entrance. Time is irrelevent on the road to Paradise.
The highest point you can drive year-round is Paradise. During the summer months, you can drive to Sunrise which is even higher.
Mt Rainier can be a very safe place if you make sure you take the right precautions. The mountain weather can change rapidly so make sure you bring appropriate clothing and seasonal equipment like tire chains. It is also advisable to check the park's website and Twitter account for recommendations and daily updates. Have fun!
Bears, foxes, deers, squirrels, beavers, and some rodent sized mammals
Absolutely wonderful stargazing can b done there!!!! Go to the top and it's wide open
Black bears are there. I was at mount Rainer 3 weeks ago and I saw cubs.
Mount Rainier National Park is open daily. You must pay $ 30 per car for a daily visit. They open in the morning and you can't stay overnight.
Best time with least traffic is a fall day after school starts when there's rain in the forecast after several sunny days. It usually doesn't rain much and the crowds stay away.
Yes, you can buy passes at the entry gate.
This is wildlife (bear and big cat) area some might be attracted to your amimal, or animal may get loose and be lost or harmed. For a way to search which trails are dog friendly download all trails app or use wta website each have trail filter that show dog friendly
If you smell garbage then most likely there's one near by not to mention the claw marks about head high
56yrs old to me bc that's how long I've been on Earth. All dates are speculation bc nobody was there when they were made. Revalation says in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth!!
Nisqually river, Longmire, Sunrise.
If your talking muddy trails and soaking wet jackets, no it's not wet.
Pets are allowed in certain places on leash but be prepared to have to leave them in the car if you want to explore. Also, it's colder there than at lower elevations. Phones are ok but very limited WiFi available.
Not sure it's real - I have been recently and did not experience this.. !!!
Not allowed
Yes and No, they're allowed in the park in the designated areas but not on most trails. Hope this helps.
Great NP! Beautiful views and interesting trails. One of the best places to go for a walk
You can camp in a space at a designated campsite, or get a Backcountry permit from the ranger station. Check the NPS Mount Rainier website for reservations and details.
This isn't Minecraft, so no.
I really enjoyed Paradise. Didn't make it to Sunrise yet. Maybe next time. The visitor center is very interesting and view is just amazing
Yes, they are here, but tables usually far one from another, so it could be a problem
Paradise has great hikes with fabulous views, as well as a visitor center that includes interesting things for kids, if you have them. Also, a couple of dining options, as well as a quickie Mart type store.
Or south on hwy 7 from Tacoma, hwy 12 from south of olympia
I haven't seen any guided hikes and I don't think there exists one for trail hikes. You can probably check with the information centres at Ashford or ohanapecosh.
Yes..if you planning on going more than once buy the $80 American the beautiful pass..it works as a NW forest pass also .and get you into all national parks
Sorry, we were in a 30foot rv ,self contained.
Yes. Wear appropriate shoes
Paradise, or Sun Rise
Many trails and I didn't bring bear spray.
The visitors centers are 18 or so miles inside the park gate where you pay to enter and the park is open 24 hrs.
This is the place the Mount Rainier website recommends. https://www.whittakermountaineering.com/rentals/rainier-independent
Just stay on the trails!
Yes
I would not know what a pink rose if there were places to camp. And very beautiful
It's open all year. But the gate at longmire is locked till 9 am. If the weather is bad( lots of snow falling) they will keep it locked till plows are done. I'm working at the lodge at paradise and there will be days we won't be able to go up there. The forecast is for 4ft of snow by Monday. You can hike and ski. Or have snowball fights. You can check the weather for paradise on the Mount Rainier web site
There are different hours for different times of the year and weather conditions. It's always best to check before you go. There is overnight camping, although not permitted in your car. Visitor center hours also vary depending on time of year! Best guidance I can give is the "dawn to dusk" rule, and weather permitting. Some roads close in winter. Next comment: have a blast and be safe!
No, they keep it beautiful
Maybe cloudy, rainy or cold. But there can still be nice days too. Check the weather forecast
Totally. Don't forget to bring your proton pack if you go, and remember not to cross the streams.
You can get a pass if you're active duty.
https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/skyline-trail.htm
I would plan at least for about 6 hours. It has beautiful scenery at every turn. Take it slow and enjoy.
Some Lakes are open to waiting and swimming but a lot of them are closed because the damage that would be done to the sensitive mountain lake. You would be best checking out the National Park website it tells individually which lakes you can enter.
I will translate the question. When is the blooming time of wild flower around Paradise? Especially, the tracking area starting from the Paradise?
Take a variety but generally layering is best. Weather can be fickle on the mountain. And wear good shoes for any side hikes you may be inspired to take.
You will just have to look for signage. There are many places dogs aren't allowed because of the wildlife. (Bears, Cougars, etc.) They are usually allowed anywhere paved. So around the visitor center and also some parts of the Wonderland Trail. Unless it's a service dog, it may be a better idea to leave the pup at home :(
No, the road to sunrise doesn't open until July. You can hike up to the sunrise area from the white river campground but it is a rather steep climb. Beautiful but steep
Absolutely. It's a nice place
Discovery Pass is for Washington State Parks, Mount Rainier is a National Park.
There are companies that will take you or guide you up the mountain. I did a Google search on it one time and found that it can be a bit pricey. Some of the price depends on the experience and equipment you have or need.
I'm pretty sure the answer will depend on weather conditions.
On that, I am not sure, when we go up we just head out, we do alot of off trail hiking
Assuming the roads are clear, probably no reason not to. Just have snow tires on your vehicle, a full tank of fuel, should be ok.
1-2 million visitors per year. June and July are the busiest during the season.
Open only to paradise, the road above is closed
Don't understand your question.
Download the maps in Google Maps while you still have a signal. You will not be able to access them once you're out of range.
Check nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/road_status.htm
Nisqually Entrance
Mt Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the lower US so it always has snow. Most roads should be open and snow free thru September but the park can receive snow any time during the year. It's always a good idea to check the local forecast before heading out. Park elevation goes from a few hundred feet to over 14,000 so there is quite a bit of difference between different areas of the park.
Yes it has snow all year long. But in the summertime there is less snow of course and the trails are cleared up.
Are you saying that you would love to climb it with someone?
It depends on the time of the year. Thankfully, in the Spring, Summer and Fall; there are a lot of clear, beautiful days (particularly Summer).
Yes, there should be guided snowshoe walks. From the website, "Guided snowshoe walks are weekends mid-December through March. Walks start at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Walks are snowfall dependent..." You should be able to go on a walk next weekend, as long as there's ample snowfall.
Please do not attempt to climb Mt. Rainier if you are not in the physical condition to do so. While it is only an intermediate mountain, you need proper gear and training to climb it. Also, no, Mt. Rainier's peak is not like St. Helens, though it is closely monitored all the time by the USGS.
Yes
I believe The name for this cherry comes from Washington State's largest mountain, Mt. Rainier. Rainier cherries are large in size, so it's fitting they were named after our state's most mammoth mountain.
Yes but you need a guiding company and permit to climb.
Sunrise is the highest point you can drive to in the park, at an elevation of 6,400 ft.
I don't know but I'm thinking yes because usually there's always snow on the peaks of most mountains in summer up there.
Bronka Sundstrom was 77 when she climbed. She is currently the oldest woman record holder.
From a volcanic standpoint, not necessarily. Technically it is classified as an extremely dangerous volcano, due to its violent history and the vicinity to the Seattle Metropolitan area. Though it isn't currently active, a large eruption could be extremely deadly if it were to happen. The mountain is closely monitored all the time by the USGS, as well as nearby volcanos such as Mt. St. Helens.
Mt. Rainier is open year round. Some parts of it may be closed, like the campgrounds. However, the mountain itself is open for walking and visiting, so yes!
Depends on your experience level. People climb it all the time. Mt. Rainier is a good intermediate mountain, but I wouldn't begin on it. However if you are fairly experienced I think it could be a good challenge.
In theory, possibly? But in reality, no. Plus, it is closely monitored. It's a very safe place.
September can be hit and miss for viewing the summit. July and August are much better opportunties.
Yes there is hidden lava and sans is there (as a statue)
The summit is definitely hard. Though they have lower base camps that are more family oriented
Not recommended to visit recently but overall it's not bad access
Hmmm maybe a few selfies on the summit ? That would be nice :-)
I don't think you should climb M.t Rainier if you are pregnant. It's already hard for a person who's not pregnant meaning for a pregnant person you are at risk of loosing your pregnancy. If you want there's an area where you can drive and see the view of the mountain while still exploring other areas by the meadow flowers. Ask for a map by the gate and i would recommend paradise center.
Probably someday . We do have fault lines around us and you can also look up tectonic plates that's what actually shifts when we have an earthquake. I've listened to scientist a couple of years back that said we're due for a major earthquake within the next hundred years could be tomorrow could be 50 years from now. That's the best I can do for you I hope that helps
There's always snow on the top. It's not ski season yet. But if you take a road trip up there you don't have to go to the top to view snow and it's beautiful. If you wanted to see snow make a snowball go sledding I recommend late October and I also recommend spring and you would want to make that going to Paradise because Sunrise you can't get to it in the winter time but it's definitely worth the trip it's a lot of fun
if you head up 410 Highway 410 past Enumclaw past greenwater about 20 miles you'll see the turn off for Sunrise and Paradise the most common places to go when you're goin to Mount Rainier however 410 is closed just before greenwater and you have to take a caravan to get up that way they leave about every hour from what I understand. The other way to go to Mount Rainier's up Highway 7 toward Elbe then pick up 706 into the park follow the signs that's not as pretty of a way but once you get past all the traffic and stuff then it's a beautiful ride this week is a good time to go to it's going to be sunny all week good luck and have fun
We were up there Monday in the air was really bad it was quite smokey and hazy and we went to carbonado area today same situation I believe it's going to slow down over the weekend but we're supposed to get rain by next weekend it'll be excellent for camping again stay safe
Personally, I take pictures to share with people that aren't fortunate enough to go on hikes anymore, so that they still have a chance to see the icon of our state up close in all it's beauty.
Yes
Elk, deer, and everything smaller
You need a permit (costs money) to go above 10,000'. Below that is free. There are lots of trails to hike around on from the parking lots and all are free.
It is open all year long.
There are areas that have side walks and child accessible trails. But I would recommend a baby backpack of sorts as there is constant elevation changes. I've been up there many times, and have yet to see a stroller outside of picnic areas.
English: It is currently open with social distancing. Spanish: It is currently open with social distancing.
No security, randomly there are park rangers. Many places to drive and hike... explore... It's pretty great.
Most trails are open and available to hike, certain higher elevations for not open til later in the year. I've been to Rainier several times this year as I live locally. Worth the trip for sure
It’s open with social distancing!
Yeh
No, it was open as of July 20th.
You can spread it wherever you like
Never stopped at the summit. Don't know what kind of facilities they have.
Approximately 1,233,666,789.5 people have died since the late 1880s. Give or take a million. Anything else?
Mt. Rainier has 25 glaciers. During Super Bowl XLVIII, the Washington Senate renamed it to Mt. Seattle Seahawks. Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanos in the world because of how close it is to the Seattle area, and the amount of glaciers it has. The last time it erupted was 1894. Lt. John W. Hodgkin landed a plane on the summit in 1951.
Yes. I would say that most people do this, and don't stay in a hotel. They mostly just do a day visit.
Mt. Rainier National Park is 369.4 square miles which is 10,298,000,000 square feet. The base of the mountain itself is about 100 square miles. It's elevation is also 14,411 feet, just in case you typed your question wrong and that was what you wanted.
There isn't a mailbox at the top, no. Perhaps you are thinking of Mailbox peak, a very challenging climbing route?
It's a decade volcano, meaning it's ranked as one of the 16 most destructive volcanoes due to its proximity to Seattle.
No, it is considered dormant. It is not extinct though, which means that it could technically erupt still.
Unknown. Technically, yes it very well could. However, it probably won't anytime soon. The mountain has been dormant for a good while, and it doesn't currently display signs of changing that. It is closely monitored 24/7 by the USGS, so rest assured.
The first ascent, in English, is the first successful and documented climb to a summit. The first climb is significant because it requires more exploration and challenges and more risk than the route already climbed.
I didn't get to the top. And no cell signal after so far up.
Unfortunately, that is pretty impossible. You'd have to look across the entire state of Oregon and southern Washington. Possibly if there were no clouds, no atmospheric distortion, and you were nearly in space, you might be able to.
Well, Earth is around 4.5 billion years old, so I'd say that's a good place to start.
I'm guessing climb? I assume because it's fun and an involved hobby.
Satellite imagery, maps, and experience. Also talk to people if you don't know your way around.
Mountaineering boots, a think sleeping bag and camping equipment, climbing pants, gloves, backpack, hiking poles, water, some food. That should be the big stuff.
I know only one time but is probably are more.
Well this kind of a confusing question, but there are many reasons to aspire to climb Mt. Rainier. It's a good challenge without requiring additional oxygen, and it's a pleasurable experience for climbers. You can also enjoy the scenic view of the Pacific Northwest from the summit.
Yes! There is much skiing, most of which can be read online. I suggest reading in full on the visitRainier "skiing and snowboarding" webpage for the best details.
Mt. Rainier's activity is closely monitored and it is not likely to erupt any time soon. However, due to the location of the mountain and the nearby Seattle-Metropolitan area, if an eruption were to ever occur it could be very dangerous.
There are 25 major glaciers on Mount Rainier and numerous unnamed snow or ice patches, which cover about 35 square miles (90 km2).
No, it is a national park so removing any natural items is against federal law.
Some times it is normal in the mount erupted araund the world Rainier is not excetion
"Rain-ear"
search direction on google map. it will work.
By putting the car in drive and driving
I don't know where you were. Go to the national park.
Approximately 150 miles to drive around Mount Rainier...
My Rainier is considered very dangerous: https://gizmodo.com/the-18-most-dangerous-volcanoes-in-the-united-states-1830029556
Anytime, the rangers are there to give you information, so wait until 7am or so
You are not required to, but it is extremely difficult to nab a walk up site.
