Beautiful area, well maintained. It was a challenge to find the different hiking trails. No maps at location. You download but I like paper maps. If your phone dies you'd still have a map. There were beautiful savannas, easy to walk. Lots if bullfrogs, a bald eagle and pleated woodpecker made the day.

Bug repellent is a must. None of the entrance were open. I just go in but I don't know if that's how it's work.

Beautiful nature walk through natural Florida. Surprise at the end of the short trail. Open field with picnic table, firepit, and bbq grill. Old aboned house to explore by the water. Was looking for walkers! Great place for dogs and children!

No don't think so. There is primitive camping at Catfish creek state park for $5. Dogs are allowed there too. Its hilly and Sandy with lakes in the valleys 1 is crystal clear water. It's about 7 miles from lake Marion park.
I don't think hunting is allowed on the catfish creek park, But you can go to the lake Marion WMA that is nearby and it has hunting. There are multiple entrances to different areas and they have a ranger station for check in with spot to field dress your deer. The 2 parks are close so the deer probably move between them! The wma is off Johnson ave cr580 between poinciana and Haines city.
I have only gone about 3.5 miles in before i turned around and walked 3.5 miles back to the car. I know you can go a bit farther than that, just remember that return trip is just as far as you walked in.
Its a very small camp area, good for only a. Couple of people. Tou also need to get permission. First I would try another area.
The rules change every year. You need to read the WMA rules & regulations on their website. This goes for every WMA in Florida as they all have different regulations and they change frequently.
