The Whately Inn

It was a beautiful country drive out to this New England gem in Whately. The Inn is rich with history and has four rooms upstairs that are available for over night stays. The dining area is elegant in itself with candlelight tables dressed with fresh flowers. An old fashioned piano sits on the upper level overlooking the fireplace below. Black and white framed photos on the walls and the rustic wood chandelier give this antique feeling that brings you back in time. Fresh hot rolls and a cucumber & onion refreshing salad with a dill sauce were brought over with iced waters. I had a glass of Decoy Chardonnay that complimented the stuffed mushrooms appetizer that was very good. There is a selection of appetizers that are complimentary with your entrée as well as a dessert. I choose the Cranberry Frappe. I ordered off the featured specials and chose the Lobster Crusted Haddock with asparagus that was delicious. For my dessert I had the cheesecake but it was a little too rich for me with sweetness. Our server Jean was really sweet and even boxed up all of our leftovers and was very attentive with getting us anything we needed. There's outdoor dining on the porch and plenty of parking. Great spot to get away from the business of city life. Would definitely come back in the Fall.

What a great dining experience we had here as a group of 10. The prices seem a bit high until you realize that appetizers, salad, entree, dessert and coffee/tea is included!!

We were visiting from Cape Cod and had an excellent experience having dinner and drinks here today. Everything was perfect! We were waited on very quickly and Lisa was so pleasant and attentive. This is our new favorite place when we visit the area.

We had a wonderful time, greated warmly and seated promptly. Our server Sarah helped us decide on several menu item choices and everything went great. Our food was great, every bite of everything was D E L I C I O U S The Jumbo Shrimp (app) were on-the-dock fresh and huge. I loved the snappy cocktail sauce. Her Prime Rib was cooked perfectly and a very generous portion. My Lobster Savannah was succulent and delicious and I particularly enjoyed the red and green pepper slices along with the mushrooms. We both enjoyed the intense flavors of the lobster bisque. Awesome portions, excellent friendly service and great food. Thank you!
