Exceptional experience ordering two blueberry bushes for home planting from Nourse Farms. They provide great information and detail from the moment you place your order. Nourse made sure that I got the blueberry bushes at the right time for planting in my area. They sent the bushes with a booklet that provided detailed information on how to successfully plant them. My bushes transplanted beautifully and are growing well. Will definitely order from Nourse in the future.

I have ordered quite a bit from Nourse farms, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries and this year blueberries. At Nourse they're great about giving you a heads up when your plants are about to ship so you have a chance to get the spot ready ahead of time. All the plants so far have arrive healthy, well established and do well once planted.

Five Stars across the board. Everything as stated. Great communication throughout the process. Bare root Strawberry plants arrived very much alive with detailed planting instructions. If you follow the instructions, they will grow. I will be doing business with these fine folks again very soon.

I purchased some bare root strawberry plants from this company and I have to say I’m so impressed with their communication about my order and with the plants themselves. I ordered in advance of my need for the plants but sure enough, come the week I selected for shipping, I got prompt and clear communication about where my order was and when it was coming. A few of the roots had healthy growth forming by the time they got to me. Shortly after putting them in soil, every single one is flourishing and growing leaves...even one I accidentally damaged the crown a bit while planting. :) The literature included on how to treat the plants they sell is fantastic, too. I will definitely purchase here again.

What is the purpose of removing blooms from my blueberry bushes the first 2-3 years?

Betty Westcott | Jul 4, 2022
kimber bennett | Aug 3, 2022

I am not sure if completely correct, but removing the blooms helps the plant get established better. It will also encourage new shoots to grow, and a larger crop the following year. I think doing it is only needed 1-2 years, but not sure

Do fall raspberries need to be pruned to the ground the first spring after planting the previous year

Ken stevens | Sep 2, 2021
Nourse Farms | Sep 2, 2021

For fall production only, we generally advise to prune or mow all the canes to the ground in the late winter/early spring, except for Joan J, BP-1, or Himbo-Top varieties. If your plants have 4'+ growth, you could fruit on the floricanes. If you have variety-specific questions we can help with, please give us a call!

Can the red varieties such as Tixia and Hinnomaki gooseberries be picked in the green stage for use in pies, etc. like the I vista?

Nancy Boone | Sep 3, 2018
Nourse Farms | Sep 2, 2021

Hi Nancy! You would not want to pick a red gooseberry when green, as it would be under-ripe. Please feel free to contact us directly with any additional questions.

Is the drip irrigation system offered by Nourse a good way to start? Is the line hardy enough to stand over time? I had some cheap stuff given to me that kept blowing out.

Daniel DeLucia | Sep 3, 2018
Scott Salzman | Sep 3, 2018

We do not use the drip systems from Nourse Farms, we make our own. However, many of our berries come from them and they are of the highest quality.
