They voted my wife volunteer of the year, and I think they sold her short. Feels like the volunteer of a lifetime ❤️. Anchorage is my town and they do a good job of showing it off ⤴️1️⃣

Staff are knowledgeable and most are lifelong Alaskans with a vast knowledge of the Anchorage and outliing area. However, they are required to only recommend businesses that PAY to be recommended. "Visit Anchorage" or VIC, runs the Visitor Center and the Convention Center. VIC is controlled by special interest groups and the service fees that local and out-of-state/country organizations are willing to pay. My recommendation, trust only an Alaskan Owned and Operated Visitor Information Service that is willing to recommend ALL businesses, both large and small and will not discriminate between those who pay for a recommendation apposed to those with quality tours who do not. Don't get me wrong, you are getting a quality recommendation from the Visit Anchorage list of approved vendors, however, wouldn't you really like to be advised on ALL your options not just the PAID reviews. Please research and trust a local, year-round guide before you rely on the sanctioned advise by special interest groups. Buy Alaska - search for Alaskan [preferably Native Alaskan] owned and Operated businesses and year-round local business owners in the Anchorage Area. Avoid any business the lists May 15th to September 15th as their official dates of operation. Guess What? There are several companies and tours operators that are available YEAR-ROUND! Get ALL the facts before you make a final decision trust the staff and volunteers, at Visit Anchorage, but understand their restrictions on giving you ALL your options.

Spoke with one of the agents there and she made me more confused than when I started. Maybe I just got the wrong customer service agent. Good thing they have tons of literature and some good maps in the place. That why the 3 stars.

There's two buildings. I'm not sure if each one is different. No parking for visitors. First center we have been to with no parking. Hours are wrong on site. It is open weekends and daily until 7pm which would have been nice to know day we arrived. No helpful city sign when enter Anchorage that points towards tourist info like other cities. Some help in there. But not as knowledgeable about the city and close areas as other centers were. Welcoming. Nice place overall also no bathrooms on site but if you ask they will show you nearest bathrooms.
