The water was clear ..cool but not freezing in July any way ..it was only 39 minutes from buffalo... plenty of dive bars in between ...buffalo and the state park for food and drinks .....the swimming area was a tad small ..but I noticed if you go past the no swimming signs that have arrows for a designated no swimming spot ...you could go in past the signs and I assume swim at your own risk ...

Strangedays

Park is nice but beach is not kept up. Sharp rocks on the whole beach and seaweed. Murky water and fishy smell not ideal for swimming. Swimming area is pretty small and you are not allowed to swim anywhere but the swimming area. Also parking is $7 so it was pretty disappointing seeing the way the beach and water looked when we drove 1 hr for a “clean” beach.

We stayed at the campground last weekend. First weekend open, so they were not super ready, but it was a good time. The beach needed to be cleaned of all the drift wood, but again, first week open, and winter is pretty rough on beaches on the great lakes. Overall I give it a 5, because even though it was not ready 100%, the fun factor was there.
