It’s a cool hiking trail. The park portion(playground) is under construction but a nice time for the kids. They used to have water spouts but have been off since covid. It does get a little rough on the weekends. The park boarders east side San Jose.

If you are up for a walk even for a long one this is the place to go. It seems like the trail extends forever and even though it is inside the city you feel like you are up in the forest. If you just want to hike do not go in the park with you car since entrance is not free. You can park on the street and access the walking trail from there. If you want to have a picnic around the lake and watch the sunset then you can pay the park fee and get in with your picnic stuff. Sunset is a great feast to your eyes and soul after a long day work.

This is one of my favorite park in the bay area. I often came to this park at least 3 to 4 times a week for our morning walks with my boxer. Many people bring their dogs here because there's an off-leash dog parks within this big beautiful place. There are multiple Nature trails leading to the Coyote creek for many hikers and runners. They have playgrounds for Toddlers, picnics areas for family and friends, and many other activities for everyone of all ages as well. My favorite part of the park is the beautiful Lake, the Birds, Geeses, the Ducks, Turtles, Wildlife, and the many beautiful surrounding Trees. During the days, weekdays that is, it is much better and lesser people to walk around and check out the entire park! I love the Quietness, the Peaceful Serenity here! Gorgeous Settings! There are also multiple well-kept restrooms on site for the public. I recommend coming this Hellyer County Park as a quick getaway from the City, especially this time of year!

Nice view, beautiful lake, many trees, convince big picnic areas, plenty restrooms, parking areas... overall great place! Good for adults, kids and family events, BBQ, parties, biking, ... etc $6 per car. But if you park in the neighborhood area and walk-in, it’s free. Awesome place!

I'm not seen people doing fishing but you can call them and confirm.
Coyote Creek does lead into it, and I do believe most of the other creeks that feed it catch some mercury each year from all the old tailings from Almaden's mining operation. Some Oakland creeks have a similar problems.
